doesn’t get hurt on the first possession of the first game, maybe the Titans have a perfect season. And on the opposite side of that, if the injury was worse and he wasn’t able to come back in week seven, maybe the Titans aren’t state champions today. Dequasie didn’t get as many headlines as his superstar running mate he shared the backfield with. But man he was important to this offense. On Saturday, Dequasie finished with just under 100 yards rushing and was also 5-6 for 72 yards and two touchdowns. He also started for the Titans at safety and had one of the best interceptions we saw during the three days in Edmond. Dequasie is an outstanding athlete and has to be talked about more in that capacity.

Carl Albert’s offense has a few big weapons that are going to be playing power five college football. But you can make the argument that the engine that makes this offense go is senior quarterback

. We were at the game in which Dequasie went down with a broken collarbone against Coweta and at the game in which he played his first meaningful football since the injury against Bishop McGuinness. And we think it’s possible that if Dequasie doesn’t go down, the Titans win that week zero game. And if he didn’t come back against McGuinness, the Titans might not win that night either. Carl Albert has an offense that certainly prides themselves on strong power running and Dequasie is part of it. But as he showed in the semifinals, don’t overlook his ability to throw it and get the ball to his weapons at receiver.

returned from a collarbone injury he suffered in the first game of the season. You can make the argument, although it doesn’t mean much, that if Dequasie never went down, the Titans would be entering the semifinals with a perfect record. But since Dequasie has been back in the lineup, the Titan offense has been very tough to stop. While Dequasie hasn’t been torching defenses with his arm, he’s been making up for it with the ground game. And the combination of Dequasie and our next player to watch has been tough to stop.

to the Carl Albert lineup might have tipped the scales of power in Class 5A to the traditional powerhouse. DeQuasie went out on the first possession of the first game in week zero. But he came back in mid-October and has flourished since his return. Not only is he back, but he appears even stronger. His first two games back were dominant performances over the top two teams in their district in back to back weeks with wins over Bishop McGuinness and Guthrie. The more we see performances like that, the more the confidence is going to go up. DeQuasie also benefits from having one of the best running backs in the state in his backfield, but more on him coming up. Led by the senior, Carl Albert could win it all again.

, who was returning following a broken collarbone he suffered in week zero against Coweta. Dequasie got into the game last week but all he did was hand the ball off. This week, Dequasie ran the offense and while the Titans were going to play both quarterbacks, Dequasie ended up being the guy leading the way. And he showed absolutely no fear facing his first game against contact after the injuries as he ran the ball 16 times and finished with nearly 100 yards. He picked up right where he left off in week zero against Coweta before the injury. And as if that wasn’t enough, Dequasie also made a spectacular play on defense near the end of the first half as he climbed the ladder to break up a pass.
