Gabbert provided Wellington with dynamic presence on offense and a steady, disruptive hand on defense. His offensive highlight came on a redzone end-around, where he stayed low behind his blockers, showed great patience and slipped into the endzone for a touchdown. His ability to create explosive plays from multiple alignments makes him a playmaker on this team. Gabbert’s versatility forces defenses to adjust anytime he is in motion or involved in misdirection, giving his team an advantage when he is on the field. Defensively, he was just as effective. Operating from the safety position, Gabbert showcased his instincts and range, finishing the night with five tackles and a forced fumble. He closed space quickly, attacked the ball with confidence and set the tone on the back end. Although not the tallest player, he compensates with incredible play recognition, toughness, and competitiveness. His ability to contribute in different phases elevates his value tremendously.
