Thurnes anchored Wellington’s defense with a sideline to sideline presence that consistently shut down plays. His speed, instincts and ability to read his keys allowed him to flow downhill with confidence and meet the ball carrier with force. Thurnes had eight tackles, including two tackles for loss and a sack, proving himself as a dynamic second-level defender who can disrupt plays in multiple ways. His ability to shed blocks quickly stood out. He stays square, keeps his eyes disciplined and strikes with great pad level. In coverage, Thurnes showed strong awareness, dropping into passing lanes and taking away quick routes across the middle. His anticipation helped him be able to contest throws and disrupt rhythm.

Thurnes has good athletic ability due to very good acceleration, change of direction, good lateral agility, and speed. Thurnes uses his quick explosive ability to gain the upper hand on the offense. He rushes the gap quickly allowing himself to get in the backfield. Good get off and good block shedding. Very good bull rush to knock OL off their feet. Thurnes has very good competitive toughness by consistently helping his teammates finish tackles and playing through the whistle. Keep an eye on Thurnes as he continues his development. !
