I am extremely, extremely happy to see Matthew having a breakout season. Matthew still hasn’t got the recruiting attention he deserves, and I’d pound the table and say a GLIAC team NEEDS to offer him.
Shoutout to the Grand Blanc Football Twitter for sending out regular updates. Also, check out Matthew’s highlights against Lapeer, as it’s the best tape he’s put out so far this season.
At X, Matthew racked up 5 receptions for 71 yards and 2 touchdowns. His first highlight shows a decent route followed by a great high-point snag. At 1:05, he shows good release and another good catch in traffic. At 0:46 and 0:52, Matthew earns an interception followed by a great sideline-to-sideline tackle.
I’ve seen his stats posted all season, and by all accounts, he’s playing great. I know other receivers who have a profile of similar size and testing numbers and are committed to elite Division 2 programs. He’s a high-tier D2 guy for me, and I’d love to see those offers come!

is one of the better 2 way players we have in this state. On offense, he terrorizes defenses with his lanky frame, good route running and sticky hands. He showed out for us multiple times in the offseason at the receiver position, and it looks like it is really translating on the field. Defensively, his long arms create more problems as he is able to get in there and break up or intercept a lot of jump balls. He also has shown an ability to read and react to balls in the flats or screens, and a willingness to come up and make the big hit. Evans has been a huge stock riser with us here at PRZMI, and his performances so far are solidifying our opinions of him.

Matthew is someone I’ve seen a lot and someone I’ve covered a lot over the past year. My opinion of him has fluctuated, but now I feel very confident about our evaluation of him. He’s a receiver who can play X or Z, and he’s relatively consistent running the entire route tree. Matthew isn’t the most athletic player, but his height and long limbs grant him a high ceiling in that regard. I also hope to see more production from him next season. Although I have some reservations and some upsides, Matthew has earned an offer from Davenport. Considering his upside, I think the GLIAC is an amazing home for Matthew.

Matthew had another really good showing, and colleges took note of it. His release was nice, his routes were crisp, and what I noticed most was how well he was doing at tracking the ball over the shoulder. That skill is rather hard to master, and it seems Evans is doing a nice job of continuing to evolve that aspect. Evans will be a must see this fall, and this performance pretty much sealed it for me.

Matthew is one of the best receivers in Michigan with zero offers. He’s always been a good receiver in my eyes, but really stood out at our Prep Redzone Combine Series. First off, Matthew has the length and height to be a great X receiver. On deep go/post routes, Matthew does a good job holding his stride and timing the ball to go up and high-point it. He also runs good comeback routes with little wasted movement. Honestly, I expected Matthew to test better than he did. He definitely plays much better than he tested, and that may just be a matter of testing the drills more. If Matthew can show up to camps while working on his combine drills, he’ll be a GLIAC target.
