About Marquis
Expert Analysis
Avery Hawkins | Prep Redzone Scout
Carter is another big playmaker Canevin returns in ’23. He finished last season with 1,545 yards overall while averaging 118.8 yards per contest. No surprise why — Marquis has the vision, plus open field and close-quarters quickness when carrying the ball. His game speed allows him to break long rushing plays inside or outside of the tackles. He runs with good balance and displays a lot of effort and strength. His home run abilities, mixed with his elusiveness, make him a key weapon for BC, if not the biggest. Marquis had 11 TDs last year and will be the go-to ball carrier in 2023.

Carter has a great opportunity to play at the next level and him attending our showcase is another step in the right direction. This kid can motor for the Crusaders as he amassed over 1,500 rushing yards in 2022. Totaling over 10 combined touchdowns last year, Carter has attracted the attention of Waynesburg State, as they are trying to keep his talents in Pennsylvania. More interest/offers are coming for this outstanding student of the game, will be fun to watch him compete next Saturday.

Carter is receiving some D1 interest but is still unoffered. Marques has good vision, patience & speed running the ball. Once he breaks free it’s hard to catch him from behind. Carter runs tough falling forward most of the time on his rushes. He possesses good lateral quickness and the ability to stop on the dime. He is a little small right now at 165 lbs, but he luckily has another year for development.

Bishop Canevin deploys a ton of prospects who play multiple positions, all of whom can be schemed up to produce. There is no need to scheme up ways to get this kid, Marquis Carter, the ball. He’s a traditional back, give him the ball and watch him work. If the BC passing attack ever stalls, they have a great safety valve in Carter to hand the ball off to every down. Carter excels through the trenches, something you don’t see too often from backs under 190 pounds. Carter is tough, balanced, and patient through the gaps. He’s got burst to get out of his patient phase and gain chunks of yardage at a time. The kid has homerun speed too. All else fails, feed this kid the rock, and BC will be okay.
