Bryant is one of the more versatile safeties in the state and a true star. He moved from a box safety role closer to the line of scrimmage in 2024 to a true free safety in 2025. As he did so, his statistical profile shifted, and he racked up six interceptions as a junior. Perhaps more importantly, his range in the back opens up a ton of extra options for coverages and blitzes underneath.

Bryant’s role shifted in 2025, and so too did his statistical strengths. Formerly a box safety who’d rack up bigger tackle numbers, Bryant moved to a center field role to maximize the impact of his elite athleticism. Bryant had six interceptions as a junior. Perhaps the most impressive thing is that I don’t think any two came while playing the same coverage. He’s athletic, versatile, and at the top of our list.

One of the top-ranked defensive backs in a loaded class, Bryant’s role shifted a bit in 2025. In the past, he played more as a box safety or smaller linebacker, but he took on a more coverage-driven role last season and really made an impact. He picked off six passes, some in man coverage, some in Cover 1 and Cover 3 as a deep safety.

Bryant is one of the top pure safety prospects we’ve seen in a while, but he also flashed some man coverage skills in the slot this year. He had seven interceptions, and no two were alike. He picked off passes in man, zone, match, as a center fielder, and on tips and overthrows, showing high-level ball skills in the process. He’s improved every season, especially in coverage, which bodes well for his future development.

Bryant has been on the radar of college coaches for a while, dating back to his first offer from Charlotte as a rising sophomore. Now with plenty of large offers to his name, he’s a well-known prospect and player. Bryant’s wingspan is impressive and he’s able to get to balls in the air that other safeties can’t. His coaching staff has the confidence in him to let him play man in the slot and whichever school lands him will get a high-upside, athletic safety with positional versatility.

Marquis was fluid in coverage and played with great football IQ and instincts. As Butler was down by a large margin, they really started to try and push the football down the field vertically and Marquis was a big reason why they didn’t have a lot of success in doing so. Marquis did a great job of not letting Butler receivers get behind the defense at his safety position and was always in the right place based on the defensive call. Marquis was able to pull in a nice interception playing with good zone coverage discipline and showing strong hands plucking the ball out of the air.

Bryant blew up in the offseason, picking up a dozen or so Power Four offers before playing a snap as a sophomore. I’m impressed with how well he knows the nuances of playing defensive back, as he already recognizes entire route concepts and knows the assigments of his teammates as well. He can play box safety, free safety or in the slot and that versatility should make him and excellent candidate to play early and often in college.

Bryant is one of the top 2027 safeties not just in the state, but in the country, already holding double digits offers from teams around the countries. His reaction times and acceleration are excellent, putting him in position to make plays on balls. Athletically, he’s near the elite category and blends that with a good feel for the game and a willingness to hit people.
