Roberts was used primarily as a deep threat last year, but he’s a complete receiver who should have an expanded, versatile role this season. As a whole, there’s less star power in the receiver room this year, which I don’t think is a bad thing. Roberts should see an increased target share, and he won’t just be running nine routes. The physical profile is enticing, as he has the size, strength, and speed to beat any defensive back in the state.

Roberts was the deep threat on a deep Rolesville receiving corps last season, and following the departure of a couple of key targets, he could be in for an influx of targets as a senior. Roberts has size, speed, and is one of the better route-runners in the state. Projecting forward, if Rolesville wants to take another step forward, Roberts will be a big part of the offensive gameplan.

Roberts is a speedy option with a large route tree. He’s at his best when catching the ball on the move, either on horizontal routes across the middle or vertical routes over the top. He excels at making subtle moves to create a couple of extra feet of separation, and he never lets the ball get to his body, always catching it with his hands.

Roberts’ ability to operate between the numbers as an outside receiver makes him one of the more college-ready receivers in the state. He has great size and ball skills, but his best trait is his ability to stem routes and then break off to create separation. Because of his skill set, he’s a candidate to moonlight as a “big slot” at the next level and his ability to play all three receiver positions should excite college coaches.

Roberts is the rare high school outside receiver who is most comfortable operating between the numbers. He’s a monster on deep, in-breaking routes and has speed to create separation. If there’s a knock, I’d like to see him show a bit more variety in his route-running and releases, but the speed, and ability to create space against man coverage are elite.

Coming off a productive season for the state runner-ups, Anthony moves up to #1 in our class at the Wide Receiver position. Anthony had 46 catches for 914 yards and 11 touchdowns, a major piece of the Rams offense week in and week out. Anthony also excels as a talented basketball player, enhancing his already impressive athletic ability. Anthony has picked up offers from Miami, Louisville, NC State, and Maryland just in January alone, reflective of the special talent he has. Anthony was also selected as an All-Conference player for his performance this season.

Anthony reaches 10 Touchdowns on the season with his 3 TD performance against Cleveland. The 6’2 sophomore recruitment should really pick up this off-season. Roberts is one of the top sophomores at receiver based off of size and ability but now he has the production to back him up.

With offers from Duke, North Carolina, and Troy already in hand, Anthony is off to a strong start from a recruiting standpoint already as a young prospect. Anthony is also a basketball player, and that athleticism shines through in his highlights. On the field, Anthony shows an excellent ability to high-point the football for acrobatic catches against multiple defenders. Anthony also shows some electric speed – in multiple highlights he shows the talent to catch a short pass, elude a defender, and race to the end zone in the open field for a touchdown. Dominating on the JV level is usually a great sign for future varsity stardom, so we will be excited to see how Anthony continues to grow in his career.
