Tyler Stevens | Prep Redzone Scout
Malachi will serve as a deep safety for the secondary. He’s a great ball hawk who has great reaction and pursuit to the ball. He uses instincts to make plays on the ball. When getting downhill, Taylor serves as a great tackler.

With an impressive 10-1 record, Pickerington North, has been one of the best teams in the state of Ohio all season long. Their only loss on the season came to a 11-0 Gahanna team in double overtime. Taylor plays free safety for the Panthers. He shows an impressive array of football IQ as they will have him line up versus the slot corner, versus the outside corner, and he also lines up in the box. He seems to have a good knowledge of the technique he should be playing and what the offensive player is trying to do. He has the athleticism to play from each position. Physically he looks like a linebacker who runs like a defensive back. In the run game Malachi plays a physical style of football. Once he diagnoses, he gets downhill in a hurry. Like any young player, especially one playing the level of competition of North where he doesn’t trust his eyes, but as he gets more reps and sees more things, he’s going to be a guy who’s all over the field making plays. I think you could see Malachi getting power 5 offers as early as this offseason.

In 2022, Malachi helped the Pickerington North Panthers to a 7-win season where they advanced to the 2nd round of the playoffs. He lines up in the backfield and in the slot. When running the ball, he displays very good burst through the hole and accelerates to top speed quickly. He exhibits quality play speed as he scores on a long touchdown run. As a receiver, he does a good job of getting behind the DB on vertical routes and tracks the ball well in the air. He displays good hands as he makes the catch over his shoulder. On defense, he plays as a Safety. Against the run, he quickly keys and diagnoses the play and exhibits good closing speed before making the tackle preventing a big gain.
