Buffalo got a steal in Ervin, a consensus four-star prospect out of Pickerington North. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound edge is a great pass rusher and run defender who takes great angles to the ball and is ferocious in both phases of the game. Pete Lembo is a great recruiter, and Ervin may be one of his top prizes.

Ervin will be the best pass rusher for the Panthers’ defense in 2025. Committed to Buffalo, Ervin can rush with a hand on the ground or standing up. He showcases great bend and the ability to consistently beat tackles with his burst and athleticism.

Ervin currently has six offers – all from MAC schools – but it won’t be long before Power 4 teams start vying for his services. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound defensive end has a great frame with good arm length and the frame to hold weight. He is a very disruptive and twitchy ‘end prospect who is a very good run defender. His long arms enable him to shed blocks, wrap up ballcarriers, and long arm opposing OTs off the edge.

Malachi had a great Sophomore season in 2023. His great play helped the Pickerington North Panthers to an 11-win season where they advanced to the 3rd round of the playoffs and held opposing teams to 17.6 points per game. He plays as a DE. Against the pass, he shows a quick inside move before entering the backfield. He shows great play speed in pursuit and forces the QB to pass the ball earlier than anticipated causing an incompletion. Against the run, he is quick off the ball and quickly penetrates the LOS into the backfield. He plays with good leverage and uses his good play strength to make the tackle behind the LOS for a TFL.
