Expert Analysis

Kobe Towns is a prototypical drop-back passer. He throws the ball right off the top in like perfect form. He is currently ranked the top prospect in the 2029 class in Maryland. This is a distinction that is totally earned. He has great size (6’3″) and a strong arm. He has the skills to develop into a tight flight quarterback prospect who plays in college. All weekend long at the showcase, he was one of the best quarterbacks. He is a name to watch going forward in recruiting circles.

Kobe was the other QB for Level82 this weekend as part of a high level QB duo, and he impressed all day long. Kobe has great size already for the position as a freshman. At 6’3″ 220lbs he looks the part back there as a passer. With a strong arm Kobe is able to get nice spin on his passes and launch it down field. He also shows good accuracy and placement on his passes. Able to put in spots where only his guy has a chance to make the play and allow for easy receptions. Kobe was the QB for Lvl82 in their semi-final game of the tournament and they had no problem racking up the scores in that game with him at the helm.
While spending last season at St. Joe’s Prep (PA), Kobe recently transfers to St. John’s in DC and is line to be the QB of the future there for the Cadets.

is the number 1 player and number 1 quarterback in the 2029 class for a reason. Playing on Junior Varsity for St. Joseph’s Prep, you see the talent with Towns. His arm is strong, as he can throw the ball with high accuracy. His footwork is solid, but this is an area that he can improve on. His size (6’3″) is great for a quarterback, so he can scan over the field and throw the ball. His mechanics are good in the pocket, with his ability to sit in the pocket and throw the ball. He also shows a good ability to get out of the pocket and scramble when the play breaks down. Towns has a chance to be a special quarterback when he gets a chance to play Varsity.

Kobe Towns is no secret in the PA conversation of who’s next at the helm coming out this class. St. Joes Prep has already named claim on this big arm QB with size and leadership. Kobe is fluid mechanically which allows the ball to get to its target with accuracy and precision. He already has the tangibles you want in a signal caller at the high school level. Watching the development over the years with Towns going through his progressions and trusting his pre snap keys, assures future success. He’s a hard worker with huge goals that is obvious to see when he is out on the field competing.

I saw Towns play a few years back while awaiting an older game and I took note of his ability back then. Watching him again this past weekend, it’s evident to see why many people in the greater Philadelphia area are excited about him. He measured in at 5-foot-11 and 155 pounds at the camp and checked every box on the field. Wide shoulders and noticeably strong latts, he’s physically advanced. Made a number of very good throws to all three levels. There was a lot of smack talk during the 1-on-1 portion of camp, but I didn’t see Towns engage in it once. He stayed quiet and simply delivered seeds on most reps.
