Nye Woods possesses impressive arm talent, showing the ability to drive the football to all areas of the field with velocity. He demonstrates touch and placement, consistently putting the ball where only his receiver can make a play. Woods is comfortable attacking tight windows and shows confidence operating from the pocket.

On the ground, he’s equally dangerous. Woods is a true dual-threat quarterback who can make the first defender miss and has the acceleration to turn broken plays into explosive gains. At 6’1″, 195 pounds, he already has a college-ready frame with room for continued physical development. His upside was recognized this offseason with an invitation to the Elite 11 regionals.

Woods currently holds six Division I offers, including Liberty University, West Virginia University, and University of South Florida. With continued development and exposure, he projects as one of the more intriguing quarterback prospects in the region.

With good size, 6’1 + and long arms, he is still growing in my mind and lean muscled up frame that will fill out easily. Nyeem possesses a great arm. He throws a real nice deep ball, can push it vertically and get it out there with pace and accuracy. Dynamic arm, he can throw off the platform and is still able to get zip on his passes from multiple angles when facing pressure. A more than capable runner, can extend the play/throw on the run & scramble or design run for good chunks of yards.

What I’m looking to see from him this upcoming season: I agree with what Todd had to say about Woods. I saw him at the U.S. Army Bowl combine in Florida, and he was named one of the top performers. He plays in one of the toughest divisions in the country. That being said, he’s arguably the best returning quarterback in the league. SJC’s WCAC championship hopes will ride mainly on how he performs. He has offers from West Virginia and USF. He passed for over 1,200 yards and scored 17 total touchdowns last season. I think he’s going to pass for over 1,500 yards and score 20-plus touchdowns as he solidifies his spot as one of the top quarterbacks in our rankings.

Nyeem is a player I am quite high on based on his #2 overall QB spot in the recent 2027 Rankings. He backed that ranking up this past weekend with his performance for Team Octane Platinum. Throughout the weekend Nyeem showed excellent accuracy, putting the ball in the right spot for the receiver. He showed control of the offense, playing in rhythm going through his reads and finding the open man. Nyeem also made some of the most impressive throws I saw over the event placing deep balls right over the defender with precision and zip for scores. Currently holding offers from South Florida, and recently Sac State; I know a lot of colleges are in communication with Nyeem & I expect more coming for this gunslinger come spring/summer.

Nyeem is a player I got to see in person multiple times this year in game and practice and I liked a lot of what I saw. Holding just one FBS offer so far from USF, that should definitely change this spring.

Look for Nyeem to really start to pop this summer and I see a huge junior year ahead of him. As he continues to develop his game/body he will really stand out with the physical tools he has.

You could say that Woods had a mixed performance against Good Counsel. Passing wise, there were some throws earlier in the game that he missed that could’ve helped St. John’s either keep the chains moving or get in scoring position. To his defense, Good Counsel’s defense had him under duress all game. He was able to make plays with his legs throughout the game, including a 1-yard touchdown run in the third quarter that made it at 14-7 game in Good Counsel’s favor at the time. He was sacked a couple of times, and his lone interception was caused by his arm getting hit while throwing the football. Woods has a lot of potential and he’s been thrown into the fire this season as a sophomore. His mobility and ability to make plays with his legs helped St. John’s move the football.
