Each recruiting cycle, we see guys transform from being a solid ball player into an impactful one and that’s what has happened with Faulkner. The Red Raiders linebacker was already a good football player but he has gone to a whole new level with his game and shown tons of growth this Fall where Power Four programs have taken notice. A thick, physical specimen, Faulkner is a load from his middle linebacker position where he diagnoses the run very well then attacks with full blown reckless abandonment. When he hits you, you feel it. Faulkner is a thumper that gets through blocks well then makes sure tackles that usually end in the backfield. He has shown increased speed this Fall along with better sideline to sideline range. The Red Raiders senior isn’t the tallest of linebackers but he is big enough to get the job done. I’m not sure exactly where this guy will land in the rankings but I know he is getting a significant bump. Faulkner is currently committed to South Florida and he may hold tight to that commitment but Power Four programs are in pursuit, so I’m interested to see how things play out come December.
As a 5-foot-11, 220-pound inside linebacker, he’s a stout player. The senior offers several impressive tools that help him produce at a high level. Faulkner has impressive speed, a high motor, good coverage skills, excellent tackling ability and a high football IQ.
He can stop the run effectively while also being a disruptor in the passing game, whether through blitzes or sound coverage. I don’t think he’ll be a serious contender since he plays defense, but he is an elite in-state athlete.
