Kalani has been an exceptional backer this year in the games I’ve seen of him. He has good size and has good instincts. He blends power and speed nicely and can attack and get to the ball carrier. He does a good job of maintaining his area and not overpursuing and leaving an unattended gap for a big play. He’s a disciplined backer who does well in space. There’s plenty to like and with the backers at the varsity level moving on, there’s an opportunity for him to seize next year. With his quickness and bend, he can even be an EDGE rusher, plenty of traits to like.
