Joshua shows good instincts in playing a hybrid outside linebacker/strong safety role on defense in his freshman year. Joshua doesn’t hesitate, and he trusts his eyes on his reads. When he reacts, he takes good pursuit angles to get to the ball carrier and tackles well at the point of impact. You don’t see many freshmen make an impact on varsity typically, and he’s had a good offseason so far as a result of that, picking up offers from Virginia Tech and Campbell. I’m also impressed by the work he’s doing in the weight room. He’s going to be a real good one for the Cougars.

2029 Team CJ LB Joshua Stevenson Joshua Stevenson Joshua Stevenson 6'1" | 190 lbs | ATH Chambers | 2029 NC looks the part the moment he steps on the field, pairing a developed frame with real athletic ability. He backed it up with his movement, showing range and lateral quickness while handling the middle of the field with confidence. Stevenson plays fluid for the position and closes space in a hurry, which showed up all weekend. The 4.59 40 mark at the SKLZ challenge speaks to the kind of athlete he is, and it translates on the field. Stevenson feels like a player who’s right on the edge of breaking out in a big way.
