Expert Analysis
Connor Jackson | Prep Redzone Scout
There’s plenty of horsepower on the defensive front for Opelika, including Gray. This is actually my first watch here, but early D1 offers, and his size alone are enough to grab my attention and turn on the tape here. He is a raw, but long player with prototype EDGE traits. He is a fairly athletic player with the speed to at least float around the backfield and chase the ball between the tackles. He uses his length to create extension and free himself more easily. He also uses his length to spread out and cast a net as a tackler. His best ball is ahead of him, and his combination of traits and upside should translate over the next few years at New Haven.

is a talented defender from Opelika who’s made a huge impact on their defensive front.
“Gray is a really well-rounded EDGE who finds a ton of success with his pass rush and run defense. At 6’4 245, Gray has impressive speed, power, and bend he uses to slip behind the line of scrimmage and create plays for loss.
It’s really impressive watching how quickly he explodes off the line and gets to the ball. He’s a serious threat on passing downs, especially- QBs are constantly forced to get the ball out quickly with him in pursuit. I think he has a huge year in store this upcoming season, he showed a ton of great things this past fall.”
Gray has a ton of great traits in his game; see for yourself in his film below. You won’t wanna miss out!

Gray shows subtle quick twitch with a lengthy, efficient first step that creates early advantages. His closing burst allows him to finish plays behind the line of scrimmage when he clears the edge. The long-arm move is effective, particularly when he converts speed to power.
He’s a balanced athlete with a blend of size, strength, and speed that translates well to the next level. Even when he doesn’t reach the quarterback, his wingspan and timing disrupt throwing lanes consistently. He understands how to impact plays beyond the stat sheet. The athletic foundation gives him real developmental pass-rush upside.
