Oden, a Troy commit, is one of the more intriguing players in the 2027 class. Here we have a 6’4 210 pound prospect who is a sure projection to play EDGE, but spends most of his time off the ball. That is no shot at how he is used at Opelika; after all, he is an impressive pursuer of the football and has the tackling radius to keep ball carriers at bay. Once he gets to the next level and surely slides down, I am eager to see how he can turn speed into power.

This is actually not my first look at Oden, but it is still a good time to circle back and check in here. He is another prototype EDGE guy at 6’4 210 with more than desired length. He is a long strider with plenty of range, and actually spent a lot of time off the ball as a junior. He is a physical player who pursues hard and explodes through contact. Even off the ball, you can see how challenging it is for blockers to get hands on his chest and how hard it is for playmakers in space to slip away from him. He is definitely an interesting watch, but his pursuit skills at his size are worth a mention.

is a talented EDGE from Opelika who helped his defense a ton this past fall.
“Oden is a dominant run defender who thrives off his ability to quickly read and react to what opposing offenses are doing. He’s incredibly disruptive, almost immediately flying downhill to fill in gaps and create stops down by the line of scrimmage.
Oden can also play against the pass at a high level. He’s a valuable blitzer who can heat up and force the QB into bad decisions, and can also drop back into coverage and create stops. No matter what’s going on, you can count on Oden getting involved. He’s a really impressive piece of this Opelika defense.”
Oden’s coming off an impressive season, he recorded 44 total tackles (1 for loss), 3 PBUs, 1.5 sacks, and one FF.
