It’s been a long time coming for Stone, who is set to finally debut in our rankings headed into his senior season. Stone has been a popular LB recruit for a while now in AL, and he tied together his recruitment with a commitment to App State a few weeks ago. Stone is an aware field general in the middle of the defense with a good feel for angles and leverage. He is a patient, but willing pursuer of the football with the pop at the point to get ball carriers on the turf. Stone has long been a favorite of mine, and I think it’s because his floor is so much higher than others at the position and in his class.
“Stone is an excellent run defender who gets downhill, closes up gaps, and consistently meets the ball carrier at or behind the line of scrimmage to create stops for little gains or losses. It’s especially impressive watching him on the goalline- he won’t let anything get in his way from creating a stop, he’s got a great motor and impressive physicality to his game.
On top of that, Stone can match up well in coverage too. He’s quick on his feet, is highly instinctive, and does a great job tracking the ball- constatnly putting himself in good positions to create plays. I’m surprised I hadn’t watched Stone sooner, he’s a certified dude in our class of 2027.”
With how well he played last fall, Stone has seen his recruitment shape up significantly this offseason. I won’t be surprised if several more schools end up sending offers his way.
Stone has made a ton of impressive plays in his last two seasons. Make sure you check out some of his film below, you won’t be disappointed.

, a recent Appalachian State commit, will finally make his rightful debut in our next rankings update. Stone popped on my radar a year ago, here is a snippet from that write up:
“His pursuit skills are elite, patiently making his way to the football and consistently making tackles from across the field. His physical gifts are on display at the point of attack, exploding through contact and inflicting damage on ball carriers. Stone has FBS offers from Troy and Georgia State. I wouldn’t be shocked to see P4 schools in the mix a year from now.”
Stone is a high-floor player who continues to develop well.
