Bryan Ault | Prep Redzone Scout
One of several key returning starters for Brownsburg, defensive end Dami Sowunmi is a tremendous pass rusher who takes great angles to the quarterback and strong run defender who can set an edge, force running backs into moments of indecision, and wrap them up or free up other Bulldog defenders to clean up the play. He committed to Missouri, and the Tigers are getting one of the best prospects in the Hoosier State. Huge upside in this recruit as he helps lead Brownsburg to potentially three-peat as state champs in 2026.

Sowunmi is a talented EDGE who checks quite a few boxes. He’s got the frame and length to succeed at the next level. He’s got a quick first step and doesn’t waste much movement off the line. He primarily lines up on the edge but has rotated in at the 3, 5, 7, and 9 tech positions and has been successful. He can play the run on the inside and contain the edge on the outside. He has good closing speed and plays with proper pad level. His 36 tackles, 10 TFLs, 6 sacks, and 1 forced fumble closed out his promising junior campaign. Brownsburg is going to be up quite a bit, which will allow Sowunmi to pin his ears back and get after the QB all year long.

Sowunmi is an edge rusher gaining momentum fast and checking all the right boxes. He’s got the length to keep tackles off him, the burst to win off the snap, and a strong sense of how to use his hands to create separation. He stays low through contact and can bend well for a guy his size, which makes him tough to handle once he’s turned the corner. His frame is already solid and still has room to fill out, and he plays with controlled aggression that shows up on tape. He’s shown the ability to win with both speed and technique, and if the trajectory holds, he will be a problem at the next level, and I can’t wait to see how things pan out.
