I first saw Davis in action at last year’s Back 2 Ballin 7v7 tournament last April in Cedar Falls. Disappointed I didn’t get a chance to see him sophomore season at Bettendorf last fall, it was good to watch him again at the 2026 version of the event. The talented young signal caller guided Rip City Legends 18U to the gold bracket championship. Battling a tweaked back, Davis was clutch, including a game-winning, last-second touchdown pass in the quarterfinals. He possesses many of the traits beneficial for success at the position, including the ability to make all of the throws. Davis delivers the ball on time and limits the amount of times he puts it in harm’s way. He gets through progressions in timely manner. Davis got taller and stronger in the last year, which makes it likely he’s going to build on his 10th-grade campaign that saw him complete more than 60 percent of his passes for 1,514 yards and 10 touchdowns, adding 240 yards and a pair of TDs. Colleges already are interested, and Davis has a chance to reel in more with a strong summer camp performance and upcoming season.

While Bettendorf’s offense regressed in 2025, there was a lot to like from the tape of their sophomore starter

. Davis completed over 60% of his passes for 1514 yards, 10 TDs, and 7 INTs while adding 240 rushing yards and 2 rushing TDs. Davis has been propelling this offseason as a rising candidate, having strong performances at both the Prep Redzone Stock up Showcase in November as well as in the 7v7 series. At Bettendorf, Davis flashed big-play potential with his cannon arm, improving progressions, and his accuracy under duress. Davis will look to take a big step forward entering his junior season to bring the Bulldogs back into contention.

Also standing out this past weekend was Cannon Davis, a quarterback for Rip City Elite that caught my attention on day two of the tournament. This talented signal caller from the state of Iowa made the most of his time in Murfreesboro, connecting with his receivers for a number of impressive touchdown passes. I also really liked how Davis played under pressure, proving he can be smart with the football and consistently find an open man down the stretch.

continued to ride the momentum of a promising sophomore campaign into a strong showing at the NE/IA Stock Up showcase. In his first season with the Bulldogs, Cannon completed 122 of 202 pass attempts for 1,514 yards, 10 touchdowns, and a 132.8 QBR. Cannon displays solid polish for his age with clean footwork, a live arm, and good decision-making. He projects best as a pocket-passer who can pick apart defenses by making accurate reads and delivering quick, accurate strikes to his receiver. Cannon plays with a good command of the offense, with good timing on his throws, and can also play outside the structure, using his legs to extend plays. Strong player who can fight off would-be tacklers and throw with defenders draped on him. Stock rising for this sophomore!

comes over to Bettendorf after an impressive freshman campaign with Durant last fall. Even with the Wildcats having an up-and-down season, Cannon still passed for 862 yards and seven touchdowns with an additional score on the ground. Part of what stood out from Cannon’s tape was his mobility and the ability to operate on the move. He can roll out of the pocket while keeping his eyes downfield, looking for a target, and can throw well on the move. Good accuracy throwing to all three levels and can put enough zip on his passes to fit the ball into tight windows. Davis enters his sophomore season with a legit shot to take over the QB1 duties for the Bulldogs.

Davis spins it for Rip City 15U on the 7-on-7 circuit. He’ll throw his hat into the ring for the starting job at Bettendorf in the fall. I watched Davis slinging the pigskin at the recent Back 2 Ballin tournament in Cedar Falls. His strong arm allows him to get the ball into the smaller windows required for success in 7 on 7. Davis should do well when they open up a bit more in 11 on 11. He moves well and throws accurately on the run or on roll-outs. If you’re looking for a 6-4, 220-pound QB, Davis isn’t your guy. But he’s athletic with a solid frame and a skill set we see work a lot these days.
