I wrote up an evaluation of Brown last month when making my way through film during the offseason. It was a review of a 2025 season at Bettendorf that saw him catch 14 passes for 242 yards and a touchdown. The physical ability and upside for more growth seeped through the film. I looked forward to seeing him when scouting at the MidAmerican 7v7 Back 2 Ballin High 2026 tournament during the middle of April in Cedar Falls. Competing with a Rip City Legends 18U squad that won the gold bracket championship, Brown delivered in important moments and looked the part. He’s every bit of the 6-foot-2 at which he’s listed. Long arms help him play taller than that. Brown is a threat snatching the ball over the top of the defender’s head with the aforementioned frame and leaping ability. He’s a long-strider, which helps him get behind the opponent. The speed and quick burst look legit as well. Brown is being way under-recruited right now. He’s in the top tier when it comes to those types of players in Iowa’s 2027 cycle.

Also catching my eye was Caleb Brown, a wide receiver for Rip City Legends that made his presence known on Sunday. This talented playmaker out of the state of Iowa impressed me with his ability to be physical in the backfield and get open within a second’s notice for the touchdown pass. Brown also has excellent size and a great wingspan, which helped him to be very productive this past weekend.

Prep Redzone Iowa last checked in with an evaluation for Brown at this time year ago. An update based on his junior season of 2025 at Bettendorf was in order, for sure. He compiled an 11th-grade highlight video, providing evidence as to how he got the job done this past fall. On it, we witness a big target in the passing game that does his best work down the field. Brown does a nice job getting off of press with power, active hands and leg drive. He’s quick in and out his his route, selling it and changing directions smoothly. Brown’s frame has room to fill out and add strength, which would aid him in blocking and working in the red zone. His 242 receiving yards (17.3 YPC) last fall were the second most among Bulldogs. Brown caught a touchdown pass and contributed a solo tackle. He would add special teams’ value to programs on the next level, too.

Brown saw time on the Bulldog varsity as a sophomore but did a lot of damage against similarly-aged competition. His highlight video reveals a smooth operator while working out of the slot. He gets off of the line quick and slides into slick-looking routes. Brown can secure the ball in traffic and shows a knack for tracking it well in the air. He should be ready to take on a larger role for the Bulldogs this coming season and could impact the offense in a big way.
