Hailing from a program with a long history of developing college prospects, Gillies is a weapon defensively thanks to his versatility and athleticism. In the first clip on his junior highlight video, Gillies lines up off the edge and picks off a pass. The next play shows him setting up at safety and intercepting a throw. It’s a wide array of plays with him attacking from all levels and angles. Twenty five of his 31.5 tackles last season were of the solo variety. He also finished with three interceptions.
