was a new name to Oklahoma high school football last fall. He moved into the state and landed at Union for his junior season. He had a successful junior campaign and near the end of the semester, Brackney was on the move again, this time he landed at Bixby. And in the last five months, Brackney’s recruitment has absolutely blown up. He went through a stretch earlier this year where it felt like he was receiving P4 offers every other day. Brackney is your prototypical inside or middle linebacker that plays like a man possessed and just has a nose for the football. And with the way Bixby produces linebackers, he’s going to fit right in with that unit this season. Brackney is incredibly physical and he has only one speed and that was on full display last fall. In this latest ranking update, Brackney was the top stock riser, jumping up 32 spots to #16 overall.

Brackney played a key role in Cherry Creek’s championship this past season. Measuring in at 6’1 225-pounds, he had 57 total tackles (28 solo, 29 assisted), 5 TFL, 3 sacks, and 1 FR. Brackney has good athletic ability due to very good acceleration, lateral quickness, and good speed. He has good mental processing. He is consistently watching the QB’s eyes. He always knows where the ball is. Brackney has good strength to run through double blocks. Good block shedder by pushing off from blocks to get the run stop. Very good take off when blitzing. Brackney is a very good run stuffer. Good tackling form too! Good reactionary speed in zone coverage. I’m very excited to continue watching Brackney develop as a linebacker. He has all the tools needed to succeed, and has already proven his worth on a championship team!

Brackney is flying under people’s noses. He measures in at 6’1 190 pounds. He has very good athletic ability due to very good speed, very good change of direction, and good acceleration. One thing that really stood out to me was his very shifty footwork. Brackney has a high motor and consistently competes on every down. He will go from sideline to sideline to make the tackle or assist his teammates. He showcases good mental processing by choosing the correct gap to rush leading for a TFL. He will also stay patient when going to tackle the ball carrier, not getting overzealous and getting beat. Brackney is a good block shedder, and uses a low pad level to out leverage his opponent. I’m looking forward to seeing him grow more in Cherry Creek’s defensive gameplan.
