as an “ATH” selection as he has done a little bit of everything for the Highlands offense this season. As a passer, Benke has shown the arm talent to truly stretch the field in the deep passing game. In the regular season, Benke completed 90/141 passes for 1,442 yards, 21 touchdowns, and four interceptions. He also asserted his dominance in the run game where he showed the physicality to run straight through defenders in the open field. Benke finished the regular season with 118 carries for 869 yards and 17 touchdowns. Brody also showed the ability to line up on the outside at receiver and produce as a pass catcher, finishing the regular season with 20 catches for 260 yards and three touchdowns. Benke currently holds offers from Mount Union, Georgia Military, Judson, and Pikeville, and I expect more to come his way as he has the talent to play multiple positions at the next level.

is a player that has had an outstanding 2023 season so far and continued to impress this past week. Benke did a little bit of everything on offense in Highlands’ dominant win over Scott. As a passer, Benke completed 3/5 passes for 80 yards and two touchdowns. Benke also made an impact as a ball carrier, showing impressive speed and strength as a runner. He finished the game with three carries for 59 yards and two touchdowns. Brody continued to find the end zone as a pass catcher, finishing the game with two receptions for 61 yards and two touchdowns. He also scored on a successful two-point conversion attempt. Benke currently holds offers from Judson, Georgia Military School, Pikeville, and Mount Union, and I expect more to come his way as he has the talent to play multiple positions at the next level.

is another quarterback that has had a very strong season so far. He continued to impress this past week, leading Highlands to a win over Dixie Heights. Benke had a solid game as a passer, completing 6/14 passes for 115 yards and a touchdown. While he showed some reliability in the passing game, he made an even bigger impact as a ball carrier. He is a very hard runner with the contact balance to break tackles without losing stride. Benke has also shown the speed to run away from the defense in the open field. He finished the game with 17 carries for 166 yards and five touchdowns. Brody currently holds offers from Pikeville and Mount Union, and I expect more to come his way as he has received a lot of college interest and has the talent to play at the next level.

is a player that has gotten off to a hot start to the 2023 season and continued to impress this past week. He helped lead Highlands to a hard-fought win over Cooper, completing 12/18 passes for 235 yards, five touchdowns, and one interception. Benke has a very strong arm which he uses to lead his receivers down the field in the deep passing game but also makes smart decisions with the ball, not forcing many tough throws. While he was impressive as a passer, Benke was also dominant as a ball carrier. He used his speed and strength to his advantage in the run game, carrying the ball 28 times for 190 yards and two touchdowns. Brody currently holds offers from Mount Union and Pikeville, and I expect more to come his way as he has received a lot of college interest and has the talent to play multiple positions at the next level.

When one of the state’s most successful programs has a 6’4″ 230-pound athlete with an impressively varied skill set, they can set the table to garner eye-opening displays like the one Benke treated everyone to in Week 0. Sure, in his primary role of quarterback, he performed exceptionally well–completing 12 of 17 passes for 194 yards and 2 touchdowns while also rushing 19 times for 111 yards and 2 more touchdowns. And as if 305 yards of offense and 4 touchdowns just weren’t quite enough, he also hauled in 2 receptions for 42 yards and a 5th trip to the end zone! Whether lining up behind center or elsewhere in the Bluebirds’ offensive sets, Benke’s length and physicality create substantial matchup problems for opposing defensive coordinators, and Highlands’ staff clearly seems intent on exploiting those opportunities to the fullest.
