Quinton Simon burst onto the scene as a freshman by catching three passes for 74 yards and two touchdowns in two games last fall. To start this season, Simon competed well in Highlands’ recent scrimmage against Ryle High School, scoring two touchdowns on impressive catch-and-run plays. First, Simon’s QB connected with him on a slant. Simon stood tall through contact and shook his defender free before barreling his way into the end zone. The second saw him drop back for a bubble pass in a bunch formation. Simon caught the ball and patiently followed his blocks before turning on the jets and outrunning the rest of Ryle’s defense.

Simon is an intriguing and versatile player who seems to make his presence felt in a variety of ways. He has good vision and instincts on the field, allowing him to react quickly and put himself in a position to make plays. He also shows good range and has the speed to run with just about anyone, which opens up a lot of possibilities for how he can be used. When the ball is in the air, he’s capable of making some highlight-worthy grabs and has flashed impressive playmaking ability. He strikes me as someone who can be moved around and still make plays regardless of whether he’s played there before or not.
