McQuiag was a difference-maker in the secondary during Sloan Canyon’s 35-20 victory, finishing the game with two interceptions. He turned one of those takeaways into points with a pick six, providing a huge momentum-changing play for the Pirates. At 6’2″ and 200 pounds, McQuiag brings excellent size and physicality to the defensive back position. He reads the quarterback well, attacks the football aggressively, and has the athleticism to make plays after the interception. His combination of size, instincts, and playmaking ability makes him an intriguing defensive prospect to continue watching.

McQuaig is the highest ranked new addition at the DB position in PRZ NV’s latest update to the 2027 rankings. The 6’2″/175 safety put together a productive junior season with 22 solo tackles and 6 INTs this fall. He’s a playmaker in the secondary that consistently finds himself around the ball with his instincts and awareness and is a turnover producer with great ball skills. Would like to see him improve his play-speed and fluidity heading into next season but the physical tools and proven production offer promising upside. McQuaig is a defensive back to have on the radar this offseason.
