has been a 2026 prospect that has been on our radar for a while. Straughn is one of the top track athletes that also plays football in the fall. He has multiple D1 track offers and we thought it was only a matter of time before he broke out as a true football prospect. As it turns out, it also needed Straughn to move from offense to defense. He had been a receiver but moved to defensive back this season and had a terrific 2025 campaign. He was also part of a Mustang secondary that had legitimate D1 guys everywhere. College coaches have started to notice Straughn this fall and he’s going to have a chance to be a late bloomer in this cycle. The combination of his size, speed and overall athletic ability make him a 2026 prospect that has an incredibly high ceiling moving forward.

at the wide receiver position. The first thing that stood out when we watched Straughn’s film was his physicality. And that’s talking about his frame at 6’2 and then how he plays the game at wide receiver. One thing that always impresses us when we watch wide receiver highlights is how often you see the clips of the wideout blocking down field or in the run game. It’s so important to the offense and it can really separate good and great wide receivers. Now, it’s still too early to tell on whether or not Straughn is going to be at that level. But the physicality was impressive, the speed was impressive as well as he is a very smooth runner in the open field and he has a strong upper body and isn’t easy to bring down. We think Straughn could be a breakout player for Mustang this fall.
