Nelson led the 1A conference with 1022 receiving yards on 72 receptions and 11 TDs through the Trojans' rocky campaign in their new conference. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>Sam Benson, SR, South Hardin</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Speaking of returning selections, Benson finished with his second straight 1st-team all-state selection at WR for Class 1A. Benson finished with 1011 yards on just 48 receptions (21.1 YPC) and 13 TDs along with 5 interceptions on defense, proving once again to be the X-Factor for the Tigers en route to a state semifinal appearance. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>TE:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>Brody Otting, SR, Cascade</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Not your prototypical TE, Cascade found several ways to utilize Otting's athleticism as a versatile and very dangerous threat for their offense. Otting finished with 785 yards on 51 receptions and a conference-high 19 TDs as the Cougars finished with their highest win total since 2017. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>OL:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='401668' first='Bryce' last='Kock'], SR, West Lyon</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Kock was a big component to why West Lyon finished with the top rushing offense in Class 1A, including a whopping 56 rushing TDs that helped pave the way for back-to-back state championships for the Wildcats. Kock will now be taking his talents to Sioux Falls. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1238612' first='Carter' last='Metzger'], SR, West Lyon</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Staying in West Lyon, Metzger played opposite of Kock at Left Guard, playing just as big of a role in opening up the Wildcats' run game with his pull-blocking, including a grueling 145 yard performance on the ground to push their way over Regina Catholic for the 1A title. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>Ryder Slifer, SR, Grundy Center</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>For his smaller size, Slifer deserves a lot of credit for guiding the Spartans' offense through another strong campaign that extended their winning streak to 50 games, blocking for a run offense that ranked T-3rd in the conference in rushing TDs (42). </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>Owen Menke, SR, Sigourney Keota</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A potent blindside blocker, Menke flashed his strength and grueling motor as guided the Cobras' deep run game, helping open the door for 5 different players to rush for 200+ yards during the season. He also had a big role in the Cobras' 285 yard rushing performance during their shutout win over Interstate 35 in the first round of the playoffs. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>Connor Schuler, SR, West Marshall</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Leading the interior, Schuler proved to be quite a force to be reckoned with, helping Marshall return to a second straight playoff appearance after finishing 4th in the conference in total rushing yards. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>First Team Defense:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>DL:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>Carson Mueggenberg, SR, Ogden</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Mueggenberg had a huge presence on Ogden's defense that led the conference in total TFLs (94) and ranked second in total sacks (28). Mueggenberg racked up 52 tackles, 21 TFLs, 9 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles through the 2025 season. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1241534' first='Cayden' last='Dudley'], SR, Ogden</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Dudley was another major contributor toward Ogden's fruitful pass-rush, finishing his senior season with 43.5 tackles (32 solo), 18 TFLs, 8 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, and 2 fumble recoveries in 2025. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>Julien Kramer, SR, Beckman Catholic</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Kramer rounded out his high school career with his second straight season with double-digit sacks, finishing with 32 tackles (22 solo), 15.5 TFLs, 10 sacks, and an interception returned for a TD as he helped guide the Trailblazers toward their highest win total since 2021. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1238539' first='Ben' last='Meyer'], SR, West Lyon</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Meyer led the way for a defense that stifled their opponents with the second best scoring defense in the conference (7.8 PPG allowed). Meyer finished with 53.5 tackles (41 solo), 15 TFLs, and 7 sacks, including a notable 3 TFL/2 sack performance in the state championship win over Regina Catholic. Meyer will be joining his teammate, [player_tooltip player_id='401668' first='Bryce' last='Kock'] in committing to play for Sioux Falls in 2026. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>LB:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1941007' first='Zane' last='Mullenix'], JR, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Mullenix was a consistent standout within 1A last season as a stud on both offense and defense. Mullenix ran for over 1000 yards and 14 TDs at RB, and on defense, he recorded a conference-high 102.5 tackles (77 solo) to go with 12 TFLs, 3 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>Landon Alexander, JR, Ogden</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Alexander adds himself among the Ogden defenders who put up huge numbers through the 2025 season. Alexander finished with 78.5 tackles (53 solo), 23 TFLs, 6 sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery this season. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1248124' first='Lane' last='Mitchell'], SR, Lawton-Bronson</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>After a winless campaign in 2024, the Eagles took a positive step forward last season, and Mitchell's veteran leadership proved vital in their turnaround. Mitchell's 100.5 total tackles ranked second in the conference while adding 13.5 TFLs, a sack, and an interception, including 3 critical TFLs during a playoff upset win over Manson-NW Webster. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>DB:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1657093' first='Drew' last='Greve'], SR, Regina Catholic</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The leading receiver for the Regals was able to use his reliable hands on offense to make him a ball-hawk for their secondary. Greve finished with 20.5 tackles (17 solo), 2 TFLs, 5 passes defended, 8 INTs, and a fumble recovery returned for a TD during the Regals' strong run to the 1A title game, including 2 INTs during their historic upset over Grundy Center. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1614184' first='Judd' last='Jirovsky'], SR, Grundy Center</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Jirovsky wasn't able to quite match the same level of dominant success he had at QB during his junior season to earn a spot on this list on offense, but he continued to thrive as a potent player on the secondary. Jirovsky recorded 31 tackles, 8 passes defended, and 6 INTs in 2025, the same amount of total interceptions that he has thrown over the last 2 seasons. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2079352' first='Tate' last='Ries'], JR, Beckman Catholic</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>After seeing limited playing time his sophomore season, Ries contributed nicely for a secondary which recorded 18 total interceptions, helping the Trail Blazers finish with the 4th best scoring defense in the conference (9.4 PPG allowed). Ries finished with 20 tackles (17 solo), and 5 INTs with 2 returned for TDs. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>First Team Special Teams:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>K:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1605331' first='Gabriel' last='Hegelheimer'], SO, Regina Catholic</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As a sophomore, Hegelheimer was nearly flawless as he entrenched himself as a rock for the Regals' special teams unit. Hegelheimer made all 4 of his field goal attempts with a season long of 38 yards along with making all 62 of his extra point attempts. As the team's kickoff specialist, he hit 24 touchbacks on 81 kicks. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>P:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>Carson Mueggenberg, SR, Ogden</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A three-way standout at DE, OT, and at Punter, Mueggenberg was one of the most overlooked standouts of the 1A conference last season. His boots were impressive, averaging 39.9 yards per punt on 41 punts, leading the conference in total punting yards and finishing with the second highest average yards per punt in 2025. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>KR:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>Aiden Youngblut, JR, Jesup</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the smallest players on the J-Hawks' team proved to be one of the biggest difference makers with his electric performances on special teams. Youngblut led the conference with 564 kick return yards and 3 kick return TDs, averaging 24.5 yards per return. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>PR:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1925478' first='River' last='Kramer'], SO, West Lyon</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Kramer only fielded 11 total kicks as a sophomore, including 7 punt returns, but he was so dangerous with the ball in his hands, finishing with 503 total return yards and 5 return TDs on those 11 returns. One of those TDs came in the state championship win, recording a 97 yard kick return TD against the Regals. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p player_id='1954722' first='Mick' last='Hoffman']</strong>, SR, Cascade</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>RB:
