Barnes was a late-bloomer, at least for a Power Four recruit, a guy who received a handful of FCS and Group of Five offers last season (including a telling first Eastern Kentucky offer in the summer of 2024), but blew up in the offseason before his senior year. The South Carolina commit was fantastic in his final two games, showing his length, I.Q., and ball skills, and ending up as the biggest riser in the final top 100.

Kosci is a talented and long defensive back who helped the Whirlies win a state championship last season, and he has a number of college football programs after his services. Kosci has narrowed it down to a Top 6 schools, which include North Carolina, South Carolina, Rutgers, Kentucky, Miami, and Mississippi State. Kosci will announce his decision on July 26th. Kosci excels in man coverage, staying in phase with receivers on a variety of routes, and shows excellent ball skills. Those ball skills translate when he is a receiver on offense as well, used as a deep threat against single coverage. Finally, Kosci is not afraid to come up and run support from his corner position, tackling well in space.

Barnes is our highest-rated new addition regardless of position in this spring update. Part of that was us glossing over his solid play last season and part of that was his recruitment blowing up this spring. Barnes is a long, detail-oriented corner who has huge upside and has picked up some Power Four offers in recent months.
