If you are a skill position guy and want to get reps and get noticed, defensive back is where it is at. Plenty of guys come to events as receivers and running backs. There are roughly half of that at defensive back. If you play both ways, more reps, more individual coaching, and a better overall experience are almost always had if you go to a showcase as a defensive back. Here are some defensive backs that caught my eye at the Prepredzone Minnesota Stock Up Showcase.

[player_tooltip player_id='1523144' first='Ashton' last='Harris'] 2027 5'10 150 Robbinsdale Cooper

The coaches selected Harris as the top defensive back. Harris made a Sportscenter top-ten type of play with a leaping interception. He might have been the group's best athlete, maybe the best athlete all day. Built more like a linebacker than a defensive back, even when he allowed a completion, he was right on the hip of the receiver.

[player_tooltip player_id='1311587' first='Breck' last='Neubauer'] 2026 5'10 165 Chanhassen

I noticed Neubauer more than once when watching the one-on-ones. First, he defended a double move and deflected the pass. Then, he was step for step with his receiver and made a play on the ball. Finally, the junior jammed the receiver at the line of scrimmage, and the sophomore stayed on the receiver's hip throughout the route.

[player_tooltip player_id='1581350' first='Cartier' last='Russell'] 2027 6'0 160 Cretin Durham Hall

Russell used great quickness and anticipation when he undercut an out route. On the play, he looked more like the receiver than the defender. He showed good speed and agility when he played a ball well on an out and up. Finally, his physical coverage on an outside route resulted in an incompletion.

[player_tooltip player_id='924343' first='Austin' last='Anderson'] 2026 5'10 195 Elk River

Anderson was often physical at the line of scrimmage. During one particular rep, he also got a good break on the ball to defend a pass. Later, he stuck with his man on a double move and almost made the pick.

[player_tooltip player_id='1583935' first='Antonio' last='Ferguson'] 2027 6' 180 Robbinsdale Cooper

First, Ferguson showed good closing speed. Once he closed the gap, he high-pointed the ball for an interception. Then, he showed good hips and feet with solid coverage on a post route.

[player_tooltip player_id='607918' first='Knox' last='Andrus'] 2028 5'10 165 Cambridge-Isanti

Andrus showed good speed and hands when he made a nice recovery on a deep ball. He was able to make a play on the ball and come up with the interception.

[player_tooltip player_id='1581384' first='Malakai' last='Tankhamvang'] 2027 5'11 165 Rochester Century

First, Tankhamvang came out of a break to keep tight coverage on a crossing route. Then, his closing speed allowed him to undercut and deflect an out route.

[player_tooltip player_id='1291433' first='JJ' last='Twigg'] 2027 5'9 140 Eastview

Twigg showed good footspeed when he got a great break on an out-cut. It allowed him to get his hand on the pass.

Will Shoemucker 2027 5'11 155 Rosemount

Shoemucker showed good anticipation and hips when he tracked an out and up. He basically ran the route with the receiver to deflect the pass.

[player_tooltip player_id='1581343' first='Brody' last='Lillo'] 2026 5'10 160 Esko

Lillo undercut a short route and knocked the pass down.

Jaydn Poe 2028 5'5 130 Blaine

Poe's quick hips and closing speed allowed him to undercut a short route and knock away a pass.

[player_tooltip player_id='1366542' first='Cyril' last='Lifaka'] 2027 5'11 170 Coon Rapids

Lifaka flipped his hips and drove on the ball – keeping tight coverage on a double move.

[player_tooltip player_id='1557237' first='Jeremiah' last='Kahindo'] 5'11 185 Andover

Kahindo showed good speed as he stayed step for step with his receiver.
