Oliver West | Prep Redzone Scout
The biggest stock rising performance from Session 2 of the PRZMN Spring Showcase undoubtedly goes to Rochester Century’s Malakai Tankhamvang. The 507 product’s athleticism and twitch did not show up accurately in his junior tape, but boy, oh boy, Tankhamvang proved us wrong in Plymouth. After clocking a booming 4.668 laser-verified 40 in front of our very eyes, Tankhamvang somehow got even better and made the pot even sweeter, once competition rolled around. Powered by his 4.20 shuttle and 75″ wingspan, Tankhamvang had the best and most explosive breaks of any DB in attendance. Short-area quickness, stick & plant pace, and acceleration from a dead stop, this kid could get to the ball like a fat kid to cake, and was sticky and constantly hip-to-hip and in the pocket of WRs through 1v1 competition, acting as a backpack to frustrated WRs looking to shake him off their tails. Impressively fluid, body control and intention, and twitchy, Tankhamvang made 1v1 coverage look easy on Saturday in Plymouth. You’ll be seeing this kid ranked in the 100s in a couple of weeks once we get around to some edits.
