A prospect who went on an unbelievable tear last season in terms of rushing the passer, Camaj Matthews Camaj Matthews 6'0" | 185 lbs | DL Winslow | 2027 State NJ is now donning the green and white of Winslow. Matthews has a clear burst and ability to close space in a hurry – closing speed. His burst of speed allows him to beat opponents off the edge as I did not note him taking the inside path at all. All the while not lost upon him is his ability to redirect. Matthews adjusts his path to the quarterback well when they step up or move the pocket, never seeming to lose contain. As he zeros in on his prey, we see him actively attack the ball in hopes to make a big play. Other than while attacking, Matthews’ hands are involved in his pass rush, as he fights off those of his opponent to neutralize their rush. What is perhaps most impressive about his game, however, is that Matthews has showed a wide breadth of pass rush moves.

Camaj Matthews Camaj Matthews 6'0" | 185 lbs | DL Winslow | 2027 State NJ quietly dominated last season with 19 sacks at Haddon Heights. Now making the jump to Winslow, he brings a deep pass‑rush bag and linebacker‑like build to a bigger stage. With offers rolling in from Syracuse, Boston College, and Duke, Camaj is firmly in the mix to chase New Jersey’s sack crown again this year.

Speed. That is the best word to describe Camaj coming off of the edge. Camaj has been terrorizing opposing quarterbacks through his ruthless pursuit and quick, dynamic movement against much slower offensive linemen. Through only four games, Camaj has been in the backfield just as much as the QBs as he has racked up 7 sacks already. As you can see from the video below, his speed off of the edge catches the offense off guard and he can put pressure on the pocket before the QB ever gets a chance to set his feet. Making 11 tackles for a loss thus far as well, Camaj may be the leader in sacks in New Jersey by the end of the season.

One of two Matthews brothers from Haddon Heights, Camaj Matthews Camaj Matthews 6'0" | 185 lbs | DL Winslow | 2027 State NJ was the other player that I alluded to who might have had the best get off. This get off allowed him to work speed and get offensive linemen on their heels trying to quickly retreat. On one particular rep Matthews was moving so quickly that his offensive matchup was forced to shuffle his feet, giving him the inside lane that he took for the quick victory. Later, Matthews absolutely killed another camper with his bull rush. Additionally, Matthews also featured the swipe and uses speed to open up the inside lane for himself when he pleases. During indy he also had good hips that stayed tight to the cone.
