was all over the field on Friday night. The team’s top returning tackler from last season did a lot more than just hit players from West Des Moines Valley. An underrated athlete with the ability to read the quarterback’s eyes better than most linebackers at his age, Fitz snagged a wild, one-handed interception early on in the game that set the tone for the Wolves, who finished with three picks total. Fitz was limited to seven games last season but still managed to pile up 41.5 tackles and force three fumbles. His junior highlight video reveals a physical linebacker that embraces contact. He diagnoses plays plays quickly, flows to the football and keeps the play in front of him. His motor and fearless approach make him a factor on special teams, too. Most of the clips show Fitz playing the run, which he does really well. He looks quick enough to stick in coverage but would like to see more there.
