The ranking below is a Top10 list of 2028 TRUE quarterback’s that were at AYF Nationals in Florida. There were a number of uber-talented kids that played the position of quarterback, simply because they were the best athlete on their team–those prospects are NOT on this list. The 10 below are prospects that project to play the quarterback position next year in high school…and beyond.
This ranking was put together based off current skill set, production/execution at AYF Nationals and projections for the future as a quarterback.
– No.1 Quarterback
– Led 5280 Colorado Jr. Buffs to the AYF 14U D2 National Championship
– Solidified himself as the No.1 QB in Colorado for the class of 2028
Highlights
– No.2 Quarterback
– Failed to win a game at AYF Nationals with the Robbins Eagles 13U D2 team, but showed off his complete skill set
– Will have his pick of high schools to attend next year and is a top-five quarterback in Illinois for the 2028 class, at this point
Highlights
– No.3 Quarterback
– Helped lead the OG Ducks to the 13U D1 AYF National Championship, while also playing in the YNC during the same week
– Throws a beautiful ball with great touch. If he played every snap like most of the other QB’s in this ranking, I could easily see him at the No.2 spot
– No.4 Quarterback
– Elvis was in the building and was the worth the price of admission, leading the Ginn Elite to the 14U D1 AYF National Championship
– Like Marcus Washington Jr. above, was also participating in the YNC tournament at the same time this week
– No.5 Quarterback
– Other than Luke Rubley, Tabron II was the 2028 quarterback that looked most Varsity-ready at AYF Nationals. Fittingly enough, led the Old Town Ducks 14U D2 National Championship game, they fell to Rubley and the 5280 Colorado Jr. Buffs
– Tabron II already reports a verbal offer from Maryland and with the upside he has, I can see why he holds the offer. He’ll be at Cass Tech, next year
– No.6 Quarterback
– A dual-threat with crazy athletic ability, Walker helped lead the NC Giants to the AYF 13U D1 National Championship game. Came up short against the OG Ducks, but never quit
– While other quarterback’s on this list played sparingly on defense, or didn’t play defense at all, Walker started both ways and also made some nice plays at Safety for the Giants
– No.7 Quarterback
– Faced a ton of great competition and spearheaded a complete team effort from the Springfield Tigers 14U D2 team. They finished third at AYF Nationals
– Last saw him play live in the spring of 2021 and seeing his physical growth and maturation as a quarterback was a treat
– No.8 Quarterback
– Splitting time with Rahmir Rivera at quarterback, the duo led an unstoppable offensive attack for the New Jersey 14U All-Star team. The squad straight up bullied the competition, bringing home an AYF 14U All-Star National Championship trophy that was never really in doubt
– The only reason(s) I have Weaver listed on higher than Rivera on this list right now, is the advantage in size (Weaver is already 6’2″) and the corresponding higher ceiling that comes with it
– No.9 Quarterback
– Jahn and the Hub City 14U D2 team had one of the smallest team in terms of numbers in the 12U-14U brackets at AYF Nationals, but still managed a fifth place finish
– Jahn has a strong arm and a lot of potential with his athleticism. To even make it out of Southern California alone, means ya’ gotta be doin’ somethin’ right
– No.10 Quarterback
– As stated above, Rivera and Zymere Weaver were a two-headed monster at the quarterback position for the New Jersey 14U All-Star team at AYF Nationals. The duo stood on their business in the passing game and relied on a tough platoon of running backs
– Rivera threw/throws one of the prettiest passes of any quarterback at AYF Nationals–tight spiral, great mechanics and good zip. Both his father and brother played college football and I foresee him doing the same. Just how tall he grows to be, will dictate what level–because he has the arm (right now) to do something impressive
