, junior defensive back, has one of the better frames in the area at 6’0″, 175 pounds, and he pairs that size with real production. Last season he recorded 32 tackles and 4 interceptions, showing he can both hold his own in coverage and step up to finish plays in the run game. Walker has the length and build college coaches look for at the position, along with the ball skills to capitalize on opportunities downfield. With his combination of frame, instincts, and playmaking ability, he’s established himself as one of the top defensive backs in the area heading into his senior year.

One of the highlight plays in this one for the West Charlotte defense was a nice interception off of a tipped pass by Micah that was returned for over 40 yards back into Myers Park territory, setting up a subsequent Lions’ touchdown drive. Micah has come along as a dependable safety prospect who shows nice range and instincts in pass coverage, along with some good ball skills.

Walker was actually listed as an athlete in our initial 2028 rankings, but we like his potential as a box safety too much to not move him to defensive back in our system. After starting on junior varsity last year, Walker moved up to varsity midseason and played extensively during West Charlotte’s title run. He’s physical, but still has room to grow. The early returns are excellent and we’re excited to see how he develops.

There are some times when you realize you are getting older – I actually had the pleasure of coaching Micah’s father when he played in high school many years ago! This analysis is fun because Micah shows a lot of traits similar to those of his father at a young age. Micah did a lot of his work on defense as well, coming to Varsity in the middle of the season and staying on all the way through the playoffs. Micah is a strong safety/outside linebacker hybrid player who can blitz off the edge with good speed. Micah also does a good job of being disciplined in pass coverage. Micah also has shown to be an elite force on special teams, making several big plays including scoring a touchdown in a big playoff win this past season. Another Lion with a very bright future ahead of him!

Another elitely-talented prospect that will be at quarterback on this Rising Stars North Carolina team, will be

. Walker is a prospect that I’m going to keep list as an athlete, because at 6-foot and 170-pounds he was one of the most dynamic kids I saw over the last calendar year. This past December, he helped the North Carolina Giants 13U team make a memorable run in the AYF tournament, playing against some of the most talented programs in the nation. Walker doubled down on his ability by showing out as a safety. With further development as a passer, there’s no ceiling for what he could eventually become as a dual-threat. However, if his career plays out and he ends up at another position, he has the athletic ability to carry him very, very far regardless. This kid has all the potential to be a special player.

Walker was the only QB for the East team so I was able to take a good look at him primarily while watching team East practice. Walker was the most athletic QB, as he plays some safety as well. He has speed and agility that could easily allow him to play multiple positions in high school. Also has good size to him being 5’10 , 165.
- Athletic QB
- Gets the job done with throws
- good deep ball

– Played for the 13u NC Giants at AYF Nationals this year.
– Will likely play primarily Quarterback, but don’t sleep on his ability as a Safety.
– Really impressive looking athlete that screams future D1 player right now right now.

– No.6 Quarterback
– A dual-threat with crazy athletic ability, Walker helped lead the NC Giants to the AYF 13U D1 National Championship game. Came up short against the OG Ducks, but never quit
– While other quarterback’s on this list played sparingly on defense, or didn’t play defense at all, Walker started both ways and also made some nice plays at Safety for the Giants

The NC Giants 13U D1 squad was my favorite team to watch at AYF Nationals because of they attacked the competition and how they didn’t play with any youth football nonsense. Micah Walker was at the helm of the team that reached the championship game with interchangeable athletes that could play all over the field, in addition to some nice size up front. Walker, himself, is more of an Athlete (ATH) than anything else because of his ability and mobility on the field. Additionally a standout as a safety on defense as well, Walker is a talented athlete that ran the RPO to near perfection as a quarterback. Read the defense well and knew what to do when opportunities presented themselves. After watching the games over again, he threw a better ball than I had originally thought, too. Future is bright here.
