Midway Point monsters: Offensive Edition

The season has officially completed the midway point of the season and there are a ton of players having monsters starts to there seasons. Let's take a look at 5 players who are letting there play do the talking for them.    Drew has started his junior season right where he left of following his team's run to a state title last year. Drew has thrown for over 1300 yards and 14 touchdown passes while not throwing a pick. Divine child is 5-0 and looks primed to make another run deep into the playoffs. Drew spent the off season getting bigger and stronger and this has translated to a big junior year thus far. I have been impressed with Drews ability to surgically pick defenses apart. Drew can make all the throws whether its quick out routes or deep post or flag routes. Drew shows very good pocket awareness and does not panic when things break down. Watch out for Drew and his squad to make another run at a state title led by the powerful left arm of Drew.     Alex has his Wolves off to a hot start after a win Friday night over previously unbeaten Oxford high. Alex has been a man on a mission to get Clarkston positioned for a deep run in the playoffs this year and he has done just that. Alex has done a very good job running the Clarkston offense and has been excellent with his arm. Alex has shown accuracy with his ball placement and drilling ball's into his wideout as they come open in a window. I have also been impressed with Alex's ability to create when a play breaks down and gets of script. Alex has made multiple big plays with his feet when his team has needed him the most and a play is never dead as long as Alex has the ball in his hands. Keep an eye on Alex in the next few weeks with a couple big tests on the horizon and expect Alex to rise to any challenge put in front of him.     Layden has millington sitting at 5-0 and he has been a massive reason why the cardinals are sitting undefeated. The senior Qb has been extremely proficient with the ball showing good accuracy when he has to put the ball in the air. But Millington loves to play smash mouth football and you have to have a tough nosed Qb to make it tick and that's Layden all day long. Layden's passing numbers are a bit deceiving because does not get asked to sling it around the yard but he has the ability to throw or run and he has proven to be very dangerous in either aspect. I am very impressed with Layden and he has started the season red hot and has Millington primed to do some damage the rest of the year and potentially deep into the playoffs.     There may not be a wide receiver having a better year than Zeke has at the midway point of the year. Zeke is very explosive and he has proven to be a threat to house a ball every time he touches it. Zeke has 9 receiving touchdowns on 23 catches and is just shy of 500 yards receiving through 5 weeks. Zeke also has just shy of 1000 all purpose yards as he is super shifty in the return game. Zeke has worked his tail off to become a big time wide out and it's all showing as he has started his senior campaign in a big way. Keep an eye on this baller to continue to put up big numbers week In and week out as we hit the back half of the regular season.     Dallas has been a player that has really shined on an absolutely loaded east Kentwood team. Dallas has the Falcons 5-0 and has put up big numbers against some really good football teams. Dallas is the guy that the coaches rely on to get tough yards on the ground and his ability to be dangerous on the ground keeps defenses off balance as they have many weapons on the outside in the pass game. Dallas has excellent vision and runs with power but still has very good speed to score from any where on the field. Watch for Dallas to continue to put up big numbers and lead East Kentwood to a deep run as they have set there sites on a run to for field.     I am not sure any offense is more reliant on one player that Goodrich is with Colton and despite knowing he is going to tote the rock defenses have no answer for him. Colton is the poster child for a bell cow running back and Colton delivers. Colton has very good speed and vision as he runs with patience behind a massive offensive line. But what really seperate's Colton from a lot of other backs is the power he runs with. It's not very often Colton goes down on first contact and he generally is dragging defenders down the field as he fights for additional yards. Goodrich is off to a 5-0 start and its no secret why. Keep an eye on Colton to get even better as the weather turns cold and he see's additional carries in the Martians offense.
