Week 5 Scouting Report: South Lyon East

They played an outstanding game against Livonia Franklin, and eventually suffocated them and pulled away at the end. He continued to wear on them and stayed patient, and took advantage in the 2nd half. He showed some surprising versatility, and was able to impact the game between the tackles or making guys miss on the outside. Multiple times throughout the game, he was all but stopped, but continued to keep his legs churning and move the pile for extra yards. I was really impressed with his ability to hit some tight windows on the move. He had no issue escaping the pocket and buying time, and whether he found someone downfield or just tucked it for himself, he made sure he kept the offense moving forward, and took care of the football. He's a physical linebacker with a nose for the football. It was difficult for blockers to get ahold of him in space, and even when they started to body him up, he was able to shed and make the play anyway. Between the tackles, Franklin largely struggled to get things going thanks to the way Chase was able to fill gaps, even getting guys in the backfield and dropping them for a loss. He did a great job of setting the edge and creating havoc for the Franklin offense. As the game went on, Franklin seemed to do their best to avoid his side altogether. He came down with 2 touchdowns, both of which he was able to get free with some solid route running. Defensive backs struggled to mirror him and with his reliable hands, the ball just needed to be in his vicinity to come down with it.
