Alex is an absolute gamer who has always stood out during game situations, but Sunday was the best “camp” like performance I have seen from him yet. He looks vastly improved in a number of areas and is really taking off at the right time.
-Great accuracy, which doesn’t drop when throwing on the move, off platform or across his body
-Much improved footwork, which has put some more zip on the ball, especially in short/timing routes
-Moved well during agility drills, which didn’t surprise me. It translates, making him incredibly difficult to contain on Friday nights

Alex is another QB coming off an amazing season. He led the Wolves to a stellar 10-2 record, eventually losing to State Champion DCC in the regional finals.
This is a prospect with a plus arm, good athletic ability, with good efficiency against a very difficult schedule. He picked teams apart, commonly rolling outside of the pocket before finding an open man deep downfield. This season, Alex upgraded his accuracy, IQ, and confidence. A really, really good high school QB with legit upside at the next level.

Alex was my first QB evaluation of the season, and he impressed. I’ve said it a lot, but Alex is a completely different QB this year than he was last year. Against Belleville this season, Alex picked apart the Tigers’ defense and was mostly accurate, but not perfect in terms of placement or timing.
He was laser-focused all game, watched tape after every drive, and led by example. I will need to watch at least one more game on tape to get a more confident evaluation, but I am considering ranking Alex as QB1.

Alex is a big reason why Clarkston has earned a big boost in this week’s media poll. I expected Clarkston to have success, but I did not expect them to look as well-rounded as they did.
Alex played like a veteran. Confident, calm, and precise. Not a super high volume of passes from Alex, and those throws weren’t the most complex, but he was extremely accurate and made very few mistakes. Some QBs at those Week 1 jitters and struggled to make any throw, but Alex looked completely unfazed.

One of many highly anticipated QB starts this weekend. Unlike a few other highly-ranked ’27 QBs, this is not Alex’s first season starting.
The existing Varsity experience showed today. He looked cool, calm, and collected all game. His offensive line did a good job of protecting him, but even when there was pressure, Alex did a good job of evading. That said, Alex was extremely comfortable in the pocket and during designed rollouts. He was on schedule, and never put the ball in harm’s way. The one flaw Alex displayed were his overthrows. A few overthrows, one with a wide-open receiver. Still, I’d much rather Alex overthrow a guy than underthrow him. Additionally, Alex did well on designed runs. He’s quite slippery, and took advantage of Belleville’s poor tackling.
Finally, I liked how locked in Alex was all game. Immediately after a drive, he’d go to the bench and start watching film on the iPad. Getting coached up, talking constructively with his teammates, etc. Zero negatives there. I’m even higher on Alex now because of his great start.

Alex settles in as my QB4.
So much improvement in a year. Fixed his mechanics, improved his accuracy, gotten more athletic, and more. I feel that Alex’s existing Varsity experience will serve him incredibly well this coming season.
What makes me even more confident in Alex is the offseason he’s had. A ton of camps, a ton of workouts, and just a high level of consistency that I rarely see. I view Alex as a pure dual-threat high school QB, with some real college potential at DB. I’m looking forward to seeing what Alex will be able to accomplish during his Junior season!

Last season, I watched Alex’s first game against Belleville. He was sprung into the starting role and faced off against the state’s most physically gifted defense. Alex did extremely well and showed a ton of grit, but I thought he still had a ways to go before he was a great quarterback.
Since then, Alex has put on some good muscle, refined his mechanics, and upped his accuracy. I watched nearly every rep of Alex’s, and his hit rate on these throws was seriously impressive. Totally changed my perception, and he’s growing into the player I expected him to grow into.
Again, difficult to judge athletic ability, but Alex looked explosive. Considering he was going to play DB last season, “explosive” seems like a fair thing to say.
I know it’s just a low-pressure workout, but I am impressed. The OAA Red is absolutely stacked, and I’m super excited to see Alex face off against the rest of the league. I’m also extremely excited to see the rematch agaisnt Belleville- I’ll almost certian I’ll be there.
Difficult to give an opinion on his ceiling and floor right now, but my gut says low GLIAC/D2 floor and low MAC ceiling (at least at QB).

I’m betting on a breakout Junior season for Alex.
Just before last season, Alex was unexpectedly thrust into the starting job. His first game was against none other than the preseason #1- Belleville. In that game (and really throughout the season) Alex looked very raw, but the grit he showed was phenomenal. I was in person for that first game and I’ll be honest- didn’t love his mechanics, throw velocity, and more. Though, Alex kept finding ways to make plays. Throughout the season, that was the stroy. Alex kept fighting and kept finding ways to help his team.
This offseason is a phenomenal opportunity for Alex to grow as a quarterback. I trust in his training, I trust in Clarkston’s coaching staff, and I trust in Alex to make the major jump I know he’s capable of.

Alex put himself on the map early last season when he went toe to toe with Belleville in week 1 and darn near pulled it off. Since then, Alex has continued to improve and impress.
To start, Alex has the great ability to be decisive and get the ball out quickly. His mechanics help that as well, as he has a very quick trigger. I get the feeling next season that his legs will also be a major factor. His highlights have a few examples of him pulling the ball and getting out in the open field and making guys miss for first downs. I think with some more work on mechanics and arm strength, Alex is going to end up being a solid prospect.

During the regular season, I loved Alex’s game, and on Sunday night I was even more impressed! He worked hard all night, applied any coaching and displayed a really live arm, good fundamentals and technique. He excelled on the run and being accurate when he had to throw rushed or off balance. I noticed a few different times that he was able to keep the velocity on the ball from multiple different platforms. I liked the touch on his deep balls, and I liked the quick trigger I saw from Alex. He’s definitely going to be a top 2027 QB.
