could be that difference maker. We have seen him do it all season long, against some great competition. He is quick and athletic, able to cover a ton of ground in a hurry while roaming the secondary. He makes life extremely difficult for opposing quarterbacks who think they have an open receiver, but instead he sprints and closes any sort of separation. He has shown the ability to jump routes and snag interceptions when QBs aren’t careful, and I think Clarkston will absolutely need that this week against Detroit Catholic Central.
Duffy (primarily a DB) has grown on me as the season has progressed. I thought he was a solid role player for Clarkston during their week 1 matchup against Belleville.
His midseason highlights showcase his skillset pretty well. Ty has been highly effective at DB, doing a great job at squeezing in on quick passes to his side of the field. Love what I see in regards to reaction time, physicality, and overall confidence.
Additionally, he’s made the most of his big-play opportunities on both sides of the ball. He logged a big-time INT and return against Harper Woods, and he’s used his vision to break a few explosive runs as an RB. Breakout season for Ty!
Ty has had a good couple of weeks. Last week against Harper Woods, he earned a great interception on an inaccurate pass (near pick-6). Plus, he’s showing promising play recognition. His first highlight (below) against Harper Woods shows a phenomenal tackle, largely thanks to the play recognition.
So far, I’m very impressed with Ty’s open-field tackling and play recognition. Looking forward to seeing more on defense. I’m also confident that Ty will earn more touches on offense.
Clarkston is so deep with skill talent, and Ty is another one of those pieces for the Wolves. Ty seems to be a natural runner with great vision and feel for what the defense is giving him.
His highlights typically show him getting the edge and using his speed and vision to weave through the defense. Whether it be getting to the sideline, exposing a cutback lane or having to hit a defender with a move to get by, Duffy can do it. He seems to have that explosive playmaking ability to scare defenses and make him think at any moment he could pop the big one. I would think he wears defenses out trying to chase him all over the field. Clarkston has another rising prospect in the backfield in Ty DuffyTyDuffy

.
Ty has an excellent foundation to build off of heading into his Junior season.
I’ll be honest- it doesn’t look like Ty is currently an excellent athlete. Overall speed, change of direction, etc aren’t great. What IS great is his vision. I mean, play after play, Ty demonstrates exceptional vision, truly making the most out of every touch. At 0:36, Ty cuts inside and turns what would be a loss into a 50-yard touchdown. His first highlight shows similarly excellent vision- cutting back, navigating through traffic, and securing an 85-yard touchdown.
Ty should be a good varsity contributor next season. I don’t think he’ll earn the RB1 spot until his senior season, but I do expect him to eventually earn a ton of carries. Ty will remain on the watch list for now!
