Caledonia VS Hudsonville Defensive Stalwarts:

Week 5 featured 2 west side programs that are having excellent season. Defense was the name of the game and many players for each team were flying around making plays. Lets take a look at some players who lead the charge for there respective squads last night.    Lincoln showed out as the premier inside linebacker for the Scots last night. Lincoln was a one man wrecking crew and helped Caledonia neutralize an excellent Hudsonville running game. Lincoln was very impressive and showed good sideline to sideline speed and delivered a pop when her arrived to the ball carrier. I was impressed with Lincolns ability to diagnose plays quickly and get down hill to make stops at the line of scrimmage. I was very impressed with Lincoln from his linebacker position and there is a lot to like about this future Cornell baller.     Kylen was an absolute menace for the Hudsonville offensive line to handle all night. Kylen was unblockable and blew plays up in the backfield in the Scots big win. Kylen showed a very explosive first step and racked up multiple tackles for loss and a couple of sacks where he chased down a very mobile eagles quarterback. Kylen played both ways for the Scots but was at his best with his hand in the dirt getting after the eagles skill players. I was also impressed with the junior linemans motor. He was relentless from the first snap of the night to the last snap and never seemed to lose a step. Kylen is becoming a house hold name and a player people need to get familiar with. He is a do it all player and a kid college coaches need to pursue as he is still not at his ceiling yet which is very scary.     Luke was a player that even though the eagles lost was as impressive of a player I have seen to date from the defensive line spot. Luke did a great job getting after Caledonia all night and was doubled almost all night and it didn't seem to matter. He blew plays up and made multiple stops at the line of scrimmage. Luke even split a double team on an extra point and blocked a field goal that kept the score in a manageable spot for his team. Luke showed a very high end motor and an excellent football I'Q for the game. I was very impressed with Luke all night and see why he is so highly coveted on the recruiting trail. Grand Valley got a monster and he will continue to show why with every snap.     Miles was a player I was not overly familiar with but walked away highly impressed with. Miles showed excellent man to man coverage all night and shut down the person lined up from him all game long. At 6'1" he has good size for a corner and he has an excellent back pedal ability as he was very smooth with his change of direction. Miles showed good speed as he stayed in phase with a variety of different wideouts that lined up across from him. He flew up in run support and made his presence felt all game long with his shut down ability. I was very impressed with miles and his ability to cover with no over the top help all night.     Hank is a bit of a throw back linebacker that plays with a very nasty disposition. Hank was making plays all night in the run game and plays to the whistle on every snap. I was impressed with Hanks ability to get to his spots, take on a block and still make a play on the ball carrier. At 225 plus pounds hank was delivering bone jarring hits all game long and kept a high powered offense in check throughout. Hank has good speed and was able to run ball carriers down near the line of scrimmage. Hank is tough and a clear leader for the eagles. Keep an eye on hank the rest of the season as he continues to make plays for his squad.
