Midseason Charlotte Standout Players

We've already reached the middle of the season, believe it or not, and we've had players rise up to become integral parts of their respective teams this season. This will be a series of articles highlighting key players on teams in Charlotte and the Metro Area, and we'll try to cover a variety of positions through these pieces. Let's get started.    Tyson has been a steady performer all season long for the Cardinals, who look to be one of the strongest teams in the 2A Classification so far this season. Tyson has shown true dual-threat ability, but he's become more polished and prolific as a passer. His confidence in his reads has grown, and his timing and accuracy in throwing the football has been impressive.     Kenyan has been doing a little bit of everything for the Trojans this season - Quarterback, Receiver, Linebacker, Defensive Back, Kick Returner - and his contributions have kept a young team competitive so far this season. Kenyan has really become a leader for this group, and his talents haven't gone unnoticed as he's had interest from several colleges. I spoke with him earlier this season.   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/pepman704/status/2097877072014102866 </div></figure>     Harding is a better team this season, and when they play well, it's typically coming from Daniel being a major contributor on offense and defense. On offense, Daniel has been a producer with the ball in his hands from both a running back and receiver position, while defensively Daniel has literally made plays at all levels of the defense. He already has offers, and more should be coming his way sooner than later.     Berry has shown some strong improvement this season, and KJ has been a big reason why. When the Cardinals play well, it is led by their defense, and KJ is literally in the middle of it from his linebacker position. KJ has really excelled in pass coverage; he's already recorded 3 interceptions from that position and teams will think twice about attacking the middle of the field in the air because of his ability in pass coverage. KJ has also been effective in shedding blocks and slowing down the interior running game.     Braylon has done nothing but reinforce why he's the number 1 player in the 2028 class for us. Throughout every game this season, Braylon has produced at a high level and provided no shortage of highlight-reel catches and impressive vertical ability to high point the football deep down the field. Even in a tough game against #1 Hough, his highlight catch setup a field goal and an early lead for his team. Braylon has an offer from about every major Power 4 school in the country, and he's going to continue to be a major problem for opposing defenses.     Cole recently committed to play college football at Liberty, and he's been a big reason why Palisades has had a pretty strong season so far. He's had every reason to struggle - losing his head coach, a new offense to learn, and new receivers to build connections with - but Cole has embraced the challenge and thrived in spite of these challenges. His play on the field has grown, and he's a true dual-threat player with a strong arm and excellent accuracy.     There's a LOT of reasons why Hough has been a dominant team this season and the #1 team in the state of North Carolina. However, the consistent play of their inside linebacker in Ryan has been the heartbeat of the team. In some games, the offense took a little while to get going, but the defense carried the torch and Ryan is one of the leaders on that side of the ball. His tackling and ability to diagnose opposing offenses is impressive, and the ability to cover the middle of the field in the passing game makes him a true three-down linebacker.     Myers Park struggled earlier this season against some good opponents, and no one held that against them - they are a younger team who lost a lot from last year's team. However, their quarterback, [player_tooltip player_id='1953767' first='Ramir' last='Watson'], has simply raised his level of play to heights I haven't seen out of him before. The confidence and decision-making are at a high level and that was on display in a showcase victory over Mallard Creek where he helped lead the team back from an 18-point deficit in the 2nd half to victory. He's shown more dual-threat ability and his leadership traits are starting to show in a good way.     Miles is a true ATH - he's played wide receiver, running back, quarterback, defensive back - whatever it takes for this team to win. The Titans have got off to a good start this season and usually have their most success when Miles is touching the ball in a variety of ways offensively. His physical stature does not measure his talent or heart on the football field. Miles is extremely quick with his footwork, and is dangerous in a variety of ways offensively. He can run excellent routes as a running back, and he can exhibit great vision in the short passing game as a receiver.     Jamouri has been the major catalyst for the "Cougar Express", the nickname I've given the Chambers offense because of all the speed they possess in the open field. Jamouri has taken his dual-threat ability to a new level, as he is able to make big runs when his team really needs them, and he's really turned into an improved downfield passer as well. If Jamouri was 3 inches taller he would have offers coming from everyone, however as it stands, he's a special player and a college is going to look real smart offering him a chance to play major college football in my opinion.     Isaiah had a very strong off-season, and it has carried over to the field in a big way so far this year. His speed in the middle of the Mavericks defense has been really impressive and helped slow down some very talented teams on offense so far this year. Isaiah is also one of the hardest hitters I've seen in a while. He relishes making contact, and that's a bit of a throwback ability you don't see as much these days from players.
