The first three weeks of the season give us a good look at which players are making an early impact and putting themselves on the recruiting radar. For seniors especially, this stretch of film is essential, as college coaches evaluate current-season tape to see how prospects perform against live competition and whether their game translates to the next level. This spotlight takes a closer look at players with film from their first three games that colleges need to check out.

2027 TE [player_tooltip player_id='1185571' first='Keian' last='Shelton'] has gotten off to a good start to his senior season, making an impact on both sides of the ball for Cabell Midland. Shelton is the top target when the Knights elect to throw in a run-heavy system, and they'll often utilize him as a big wideout where he can create mismatches against corners. He's also a devastating blocker on the outside, adding a lot of value in their running game when he isn't getting the ball. Defensively, he's moved around and shown the versatility to play at all three levels and can execute each role at a high level.

2027 ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1326535' first='Rudy' last='Carrillo'] has been a great addition to the Morgantown program and has stepped into a much-needed role at receiver after the Mohigans lost several big contributors from last year's state championship team. Morgantown has leaned on the ground game while QB Maddox Twigg has gotten healthy, but expect Carrillo to start putting up bigger numbers as the season moves along. He's also a standout corner, and that two-way upside is a big reason why we have him ranked as one of the top ATH prospects in the state. Carrillo has flashed what he can bring to the Mohigans, and we expect to see much more from him moving forward.

The 2027 WR has the length and athleticism to create matchup problems, while his fluidity allows him to line up in the slot or at wideout and can make big plays from both spots. Mayer is a threat to score any time he touches the ball and can win on quick throws or stretch the field as a vertical threat. He's also a rangy defensive back who does a great job covering ground and can lock down opposing teams' top receiver. Mayer has shown the versatility and playmaking ability to give him D1 upside in my eyes.

Few teams can match his pace of play, and if Bryant gets a crease, he's likely to take it the distance. Jones is a strong vertical threat out of the slot with the speed and ball skills to make plays downfield with his reliable hands and tracking ability.
2028 Parkersburg WR/DB [player_tooltip player_id='1077100' first='Brady' last='Thorn'] has been a talented three-phase player for the Big Reds again this season through the first three weeks. Thorn gives them a matchup problem on the outside as they continue developing their passing game. He has the throw it up and let him go make a play ability that makes life easier on quaterbacks. Thorn has made an even bigger impact at safety through the first three weeks, and he's a recruitable prospect on both sides of the ball with D1 potential.

2028 WR [player_tooltip player_id='1545676' first='Branden' last='Custer'] has emerged as the third option in a loaded University passing game and continues to make the most of his opportunities. He has 6 receptions for 170 yards and three touchdowns through the first three games, scoring on an impressive 50% rate of his touches. Custer would put up big numbers for a lot of teams, but University has an embarrassment of riches at receiver that makes it tough to get everyone equal touches. He's steadily increased his role each year, and the patience should pay off as his opportunities continue to grow. Custer is a very talented receiver in his own right and can make defenses pay if they put too much attention on Hayden George and Evan Toler.

2028 WR [player_tooltip player_id='2139527' first='Logan' last='Graham'] has turned his preseason breakout candidate status into reality for Parkersburg South, emerging as one of the most productive receivers in the state through the first three weeks. He's been impressive as a game-breaking pass catcher and is very dangerous when he gets the ball in space. Graham has high-level speed and burst that gives him the ability to take it the distance if he finds a crease and can outrun defenders even when they have good angles on him. He's a threat to score on any touch and should force opposing defenses to give him extra attention as the season moves along.

[player_tooltip player_id='1329943' first='Kellen' last='Rife'] has played just two games after Huntington's Week 2 bye, but the 2029 WR has gotten off to the start we expected from him as a sophomore. Rife flashed special playmaking ability as a freshman, but he's taken his game to another level this season as a natural playmaker for the Highlanders. He has tremendous ball skills for his age and is dangerous with the ball in his hands as both a receiver and returner. Rife has the physical traits to develop into a complete receiver, and he's quickly coming along as a dynamic young playmaker in the Huntington program.
