Finding a true two-way threat is always valuable, and 2027 Midland Trail WR/DB Brody Jones has been productive at both spots this season. He’s a rangy safety on defense who covers ground quickly on the back end and attacks the football in the air, building on a strong junior season defensively. Jones has taken on a big role at receiver as a senior and has proven he can play there in college as well. His ball skills translate to both positions, and he has the versatility to give a D2 or D3 college a great option on either side of the ball.

He had a very good junior season on defense, but his increased role at receiver as a senior has given us a better look at just how much playmaking ability he has. On defense, Jones is a rangy safety who covers ground quickly on the back end and plays aggressively when the ball is in the air. His ball skills show up on both sides of the ball, and he has the versatility to play either side at the next level. He’s been one of the better players in Class AA this season, and the way Jones has performed should earn him college opportunities.

2027 WR Brody Jones Brody Jones 5'10" | 175 lbs | DB/WR Midland Trail | 2027 WV has been a great two-way playmaker for the rebuilt Midland Trail Patriots this year, making big plays on both sides of the ball as a senior. He primarily played defensive back last season and had a big junior year on defense, but he’s shown his upside as a pass catcher through the first three games. Jones is a strong vertical threat out of the slot with the speed and ball skills to make plays downfield with his reliable hands and tracking ability. Midland Trail can also utilize his speed and quickness by motioning him across the formation on sweeps, giving them another way to get the ball in his hands. Based on what he’s put on tape so far, Jones has D2 upside.

RETURNING STANDOUT

2027 WR/DB Brody Jones is one of the few returning starters Midland Trail returns from last year’s team and could be in for another big season on the back end of their defense. Jones broke out as a junior with 6 interceptions, showing the instincts and range that make him a dangerous ballhawk at safety. He does a nice job reading the quarterback, adjusting on the fly, and tracking the football once it’s in the air. Jones can play tight to the slot or play off the ball, using his athleticism to close quickly. He’s also a reliable tackler, giving the Patriots a smart and versatile defensive back to build around this season.
