He had a fantastic showing at the <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/05/best-running-backs-cfi-mega-showcase/">CFI Showcase</a> and earned a few offers immediately after. He's a bigger back with excellent contact balance. Powell is a massive safety prospect with great ball skills and instincts. He'll be a key piece defensively for a team that will start plenty of new faces in 2026.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Others Considered:&nbsp;<strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2211520' first='Noah' last='Wright']</strong> (WR/DB)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":3} --> <h3 class="wp-block-heading">North Mecklenburg Vikings</h3> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2206357' first='Darius' last='Scarlett']</strong> | LB</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>While the offense had its fair share of struggles, especially in the passing game, North Meck's defense was a really solid unit. The Vikings allowed fewer than 18 points per game in their first eight games of the season, really limiting opposing offenses. Scarlett led the team in tackling while picking off two passes and forcing a fumble. The West Charlotte transfer is one of our top-ranked quarterbacks in the state. He has plenty of experience and is a ture team leader. A dual-threat, Nichols threw for 2,000 yards, ran for another 500, and had 33 touchdowns last year. I've gotten multiple texts from media members, Power Five position coaches, and the like about how impressive the rising sophomore has been. Mallard Creek is built from the trenches outward, and Okam is one of several high-level lineman prospects on the Mavericks' roster.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Others Considered:&nbsp;<strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1616115' first='Cailen' last='Napier']</strong> (QB), <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1687738' first='Tyrell' last='Barze']</strong> (WR/DB)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":3} --> <h3 class="wp-block-heading">West Charlotte Mighty Lions</h3> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1607889' first='Emory' last='McClain Jr'].</strong> | RB</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>There's a lot of turnover for the Mighty Lions, and the roster churn puts McClain in a spot to break out as a senior. Coaches on both the old staff and the new staff are extremely high on the rising senior back.
