8 Winter Breakout QBs Across Georgia and Alabama

With the first wave of offers and coaches on the road behind us, it's a good time to look back and see who started to see their recruitment breakout. Across both Georgia and Alabama, with several classes featured, here are the 8 I wanted to highlight closely.    It was a big winter for Harrigan, who has long been one of my favorite players in Georgia at the QB position. Anything I say at this point will just make me sound like a broken record, but it's his combination of size, upside, and easy spin and drive on the ball that really sticks out to me. He will only continue to get better as he grows into himself. I don't expect his recruiting buzz to be done yet.     McPherson has been well covered from our PRZ Stock Up Tour this past weekend, so here is a snippet of my write-up on him from yesterday:   "McPherson, coming off a breakout spring, was one of the more high-profile prospects at our event, and he backed up the hype. He was a physical outlier in the QB group and weighed in much bulkier and filled out than I expected. He has tight, clean mechanics, creating easy spin and velocity on the ball. McPherson is a true dual-threat with the ability to break the game, and he heads into his senior season with good footing."     It has been a huge offseason for Chatman, coming off his breakout junior season. You wouldn't expect it at his size, but this kid is a big-time arm talent. Quick, clean, efficient mechanics, and he easily rifles the ball off his hand. He can tap into different trajectories and drops in beautiful throws down the field. He is a good enough athlete to be considered a dual threat, and he is capable of making off-script plays when things break down. I see why college coaches love this kid.     Burgess added offers from Liberty and Georgia Southern this winter, setting the stage for this small school prospect. He is an impressive athlete and a true difference maker as a runner; he lines up and takes reps at skill spots as well. Long, lean, lanky athlete who changes direction and has long strides to generate explosives with his legs. He has a long, natural, whippy release and gets easy drive on the ball. This is a true traits eval and will likely get a look as both a QB and as an ATH. Longer fuse here for his development.     I saw [player_tooltip player_id='1651373' first='Nash' last='Davis'] a few weekends back and given his traits and background, he has a chance to really rise and stick out in the 2028 QB class in Alabama. He doubles as a really impressive baseball player as well, easily touching 90 MPH just as a sophomore. An obviously impressive arm talent on his big frame. He can make every throw on the field and do it with ease. He is more of a pocket passer, but has the pocket mobility to evade pressure and operate in space if needed. Holds an offer from Jax State, but I am expecting more.     I watched plenty of [player_tooltip player_id='1068557' first='Cason' last='Myers'] this fall, and the plethora of FBS offers rolling his way this winter were of no surprise to me. Definitely a fun player, and a type of QB that schools have started to gravitate towards recently. For starters, he is a totally capable passer to hold his own at the FBS level, but it's his off-script plays and his toughness as a runner that stick out to me. He has a knack for making unorthodox plays outside the pocket, and he also will drop his shoulder as a runner to get tough yards. Watch how many programs use their QBs to punch in the run game and get tough yards, and I think that's how Myers should be used to maximize his game.     Parker, a well-covered player for us at this point, broke the glass ceiling of his recruitment with several FBS and P4 offers this winter. Here is a snippet of my most recent write-up on him:   "Parker has long been one of the most noteworthy 2029 QB names in Georgia. Last season, he broke out at Cherokee and improved every week. His feel for the position has always been impressive. He has a quick, efficient release and generates life on the ball with a flick"     It was a huge winter for Hollum, who looks to be developing into yet another P4 caliber QB prospect to come out of Prince Avenue. What he did as a freshman is probably what you can expect out of him going forward. He is a big, physical outlier at the position. He is hard to tackle, but has the burst to create yards as well. Regardless, looks like he would rather stay in the pocket and fire downfield, frequently giving his receivers shots down the field and flashing the ability to layer the football, all while being willing to take on contact. He is well-developed for his age, and P4 coaches will once again be flocking to check out QB for Prince Avenue over the next few years.
