Fall IDs: 10 Early Season Alabama Standouts

Here, I highlight 10 guys off to a hot start to kick off their season.    It's another electric start to the year for Moody, who started on varsity as an eighth grader. He is a smaller player with better arm strength than you would think. He is fully capable of reading the whole field and pushing the ball vertically. He plays with excellent touch and timing, helping him make hard-to-reach throws. He is a good athlete, and uses his legs mostly to create space for himself to operate. He plays with a great feel for the spot, and he still has time to grow.     McVay is off to an electric start to his junior season and is making his case as one of the best 2028 QBs in AL. Few QBs have weapons at their disposal like McVay, but he is playing his distributor role beautifully. The ball jumps off his hand, and he proves capable of ripping the ball into tight intermediate windows. He gets plenty of air under the ball, giving his elite receivers a chance at making a play on the ball. McVay is a baseball player with natural arm talent, and the early returns are impressive.     It's an electric start to the season for Dupree, who is already knocking on the door of 1000 yards this year. He is a big back hovering around 5'11 200, moving that weight well. He has more juice than I initially expected and is capable of going through, around, and even over defenders. Keep an eye on Dupree and his ranking as future updates loom closer.     Bennett is one of the state's leading rushers and is averaging over 22 yards per carry to start the year. He is a smooth mover who can lift off in space. He isn't a bruiser, but he plays with good contact balance and can drive through contact. He is a patient, one-cut style runner who is a well-rounded player. He is elusive, evasive, and has enough giddy-up to lift off. Bennett holds offers and will surely pop on more radars at this rate.     Sales is off to a hot start through 3 games and is one of the state's leading receivers as of today. He is a true slot projection with deep ball potential. He is a smooth, long strider who maintains his top gear, allowing him to beat DBs and get behind safeties down the seam. He plays bigger than listed, showing the ability to track and win on the ball in traffic. His body control and smooth movement skills help round out his game and offer some YAC juice. He is a fun player to watch who can sound some late recruiting alarms.     Jackson is another prolific receiver in the state through the first three weeks. He is a versatile, multi-level playmaker. I love what he does with the ball in his hands. He is explosive when changing direction and keeps his feet active while he climbs. He is capable of separating against his current level of comp as a route runner, and has good enough hands to win in traffic. Regardless, I am most intrigued with what he has to offer as a YAC guy,     Robinson is one of the state leaders in sacks through the first part of the year and is a new name to jump on my radar. He plays on the defensive front, but at his size, he might eventually slide back to LB. Regardless, this dude gets after it. He is explosive, fast, and battles hard at the POA. You want smaller pass rushers to play with a hot motor, and Robinson does exactly that. Just a fun player to dive into.     Santana Lofton, according to MaxPreps, is the state leader in INTs through the first few weeks of the year. He plays both ways, but has impressive cover skills for his size. He moves and plays pretty much exactly how you would like a 5'9 corner to play. He is smooth, effortlessly changes direction, and proves hard to create separation against. Ball production translates, and Lofton is showing plenty of it to start his junior season.     [player_tooltip player_id='1608927' first='Kahlil' last='Braswell'] landed in our 2028 rankings earlier this summer, and he is off to a hot start to his junior year. This kid looks the part. He has the desired frame and length to play corner. He works hard to cover a lot of ground and proves capable of climbing the ladder to make plays on the football. His junior year tape shows a more complete player than the sophomore tape, which is a good sign and makes him someone to track ahead of our next rankings update.     [player_tooltip player_id='2347617' first='Barrett' last='Upton'] is approaching 50 tackles already on the season and looks like one of the more complete LBs in the state. I love how he plays in the box, proving he can efficiently work over/under blocks and sit strong in running lanes. However, his pursuit skills flash the most to me. He has sneaky good sideline-to-sideline speed and strains hard to close space. His combination of size and effort is intriguing, and he will land in our next rankings update.
