The off-season is officially upon us with the camp circuit kicking off tomorrow here in Tennessee with the PRZTN Winter Showcase. Here we provide a position by position preview on who will be in attendance and some analysis on those players going into camp.

Offense

Quarterbacks

- Looking through our entire roster for this weekend's Prep Redzone Tennessee Winter Showcase, the offensive side of the ball looks to be superior compared to the defense but that will certainly flush itself out by the end of camp. An early look shows a deep and talented offensive group headed to Nashville on Sunday afternoon with the quarterbacks, tight ends and offensive line standing out.

We have a nice mix of vets and youthful quarterbacks set for camp, spearheaded by rising seniors [player_tooltip player_id='1292341' first='Corbin' last='Hobson'] (GCA), [player_tooltip player_id='1588080' first='Kason' last='Woodson'] (Springfield), [player_tooltip player_id='446208' first='Cayden' last='Creech'] (USJ), [player_tooltip player_id='932897' first='Ayden' last='Spellings'] (Henry Co.) and dual threat athlete [player_tooltip player_id='2065483' first='Zaiden' last='Humphrey'] (Marion Co.). Hobson is currently ranked as a top ten in-state quarterback for the TN2027 class. A true pocket passer, Hobson recently transferred to GCA and comes into this camp as a potential favorite to win MVP.

Big performances from Woodson, Creech, Spellings and Humphrey could boost their stock significantly. Woodson has my attention as he may be one of the best dual threat guys we have from the TN2027 class. Rhea Co. signal [player_tooltip player_id='1732910' first='Jaxton' last='Schmitt'] is an interesting case to follow on Sunday as he brings great size along with an athletic skill set to the playing field. He has the look needed to play quarterback but could develop at other positions down the road as well.

We have a few underclassmen to pay attention to this weekend that could perform well and push their stocks higher. Peabody sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1088646' first='Caleb' last='Sims'] is a regular at our camps that has shown good arm talent with potential to develop further. [player_tooltip player_id='2001531' first='Colt' last='Loftis'] from Jackson Co. and [player_tooltip player_id='2072766' first='Ryder' last='Gregg'] out of Franklin are two under the radar passers that I'm interested to see spin the football. One freshman that has my eye is Ravenwood quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1686419' first='Jackson' last='Arthur'], a 6'2 prospect that displays good arm action.

- - -

Running Backs

- The underclassmen lead the way here with the running backs. It's not the deepest group we will have at camp but it has some star power with the state's leading rusher in [player_tooltip player_id='1589943' first='Quincy' last='Mitchell']. This Mid-Tennessee product is coming off a breakout sophomore season that led him to becoming a Mr. Football finalist while taking his college stock to another level. Watching him perform and run this weekend will be fun to see.

Riverdale speedster [player_tooltip player_id='1868595' first='Jacob' last='Vaughn'] and Clarksville Academy bruiser [player_tooltip player_id='1661145' first='Jayden' last='Ladner'] are two ball carriers I will be watching closely at camp. Vaughn established himself as the Warriors top runner this past season and someone that is already on the college radar. Ladner sits under the radar right now but could help his cause with a strong camp performance in Nashville.

Two freshmen set for our showcase to watch for this weekend are [player_tooltip player_id='1554811' first='Sammy' last='Steimer'] from Knox. Webb and Kruise Buntyn, Jr out of Knox. Catholic. Both these Knoxville area ball carriers are undersized but bring big play, dynamic abilities to the backfield. Steimer and Buntyn, Jr could both be full time starters for the respective teams in the Fall.

Our seniors don't have a strong representation this weekend but there are a few prospects that catch my eye. Three guys I will be keeping track of are [player_tooltip player_id='1260912' first='Harold' last='Marshall III'] from Northeast, King Gardner out of DCA and [player_tooltip player_id='2085197' first='Ty' last='Tomberlin'] from Maryville. Power and size is what Marshall brings to the field. Gardner and Tomberlin are athletic runners that are looking for a big off-season to get onto the college radar.

- - - - -

Wide Receivers

- Moving to the pass catchers, the wide receiver group destined for Nashville this weekend is interesting as it has a bunch of unknowns or under the radar guys that could push their stocks forward with big camp performances. One guy who is already known and the star of this group is Blackman junior [player_tooltip player_id='1103038' first='Brylan' last='Oduor']. This Murfreesboro wideout is currently ranked as a Top 20 prospect for the TN2027 class that already holds multiple P4 offers with several others to come.

Joining Oduor at our showcase from the rising senior class will be several talented but underrated receivers like [player_tooltip player_id='2067394' first='Brock' last='Green II'] (Houston), [player_tooltip player_id='1629937' first='Kaden' last='Webber'] (GCA), [player_tooltip player_id='1694328' first='Kyle' last='Aldridge'] (Melrose), [player_tooltip player_id='1646051' first='Rome' last='Duncan'] (Franklin-Grace) and Creek Wood prospect Odell Springer. Green and Webber are two physically well built young men that can work the outside while Aldridge, Duncan and Springer have skill sets that fit very well coming out of the slot.

A lot of the underclassmen receivers set for the Winter Showcase have a chance to kick off their off-season in a big way on Sunday with strong performances in front of their peers and college coaches. We have a lot of unknowns with this group but there are still several guys to know about that are already on our scouting radar.

Some notable names to know about for this weekend include [player_tooltip player_id='1588776' first='Hudson' last='Smith'] from Nash. Christian, [player_tooltip player_id='1657328' first='Kyle' last='Pearman'] out of Franklin, [player_tooltip player_id='1640650' first='Jackson' last='Huntzinger'] from Summit and two-way talent [player_tooltip player_id='1704651' first='Cullen' last='Heck'], hailing from Knox. Webb. Smith is a star in the making that performed well last year at our showcase. Pearman is a big, physical pass catcher that can be a mismatch for smaller defenders. I have a lot to learn about Huntzinger but the little that I have seen, I like, especially his upside in the slot. I have Heck pinpointed for defense, playing safety but he is working at receiver this weekend, so I'm interested to see how this 6 '2 prospect performs.

- - - - -

Tight Ends

- Possibly the deepest position group this weekend with the most talent could be the tight ends. We have a good looking crop of pass catching big men headed for Nashville on Sunday, including several guys that sport Power Four, D1 abilities. A lot of the star power comes from the underclassmen but two seniors to know about are [player_tooltip player_id='1952678' first='Teddy' last='Graff'] from Ensworth and Page standout [player_tooltip player_id='1646108' first='Drew' last='Rempel'].

Graff is flying under the radar right now but could be someone that breaks out this off-season and becomes a much wanted recruit. The Tigers rising senior stands 6 '5 225 pounds, bringing the needed size to the field along with athletic skills that allows him to stretch the field. Rempel is labeled at camp as a tight end, which is where I personally like him best but he may also take snaps this weekend at quarterback or receiver, so I'm curious to see how he looks.

Now about those underclassmen! We have some talented guys here that I expect to hear tons about over the next few years. Maryville rising junior [player_tooltip player_id='2005384' first='J.T.' last='Allen'] could develop into the top tight end prospect from our TN2028 recruiting class. He stands 6'5 230 pounds with good arm length and the ability to run after the catch. [player_tooltip player_id='1694360' first='Jack' last='Clinite'] from Lipscomb Academy is a 6 '5 long and lanky flex tight end that needs time to pack on more weight but the pass catching upside is real.

Knox. Webb sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1704680' first='Jackson' last='Walters'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2090696' first='Caden' last='Gang'] from GCA are two big, in-line blocking style tight ends that may eventually grow themselves out of the position. Walters has a chance to stick while I feel that Gang will develop into an offensive lineman. I am interested however to see how both these guys perform, move and run routes during their time in Nashville.

Two guys that I don't know a whole lot about but interested to know more are [player_tooltip player_id='1213774' first='Caplan' last='Crews'] from Houston and Rockvale rising sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1648774' first='Clayton' last='Jackson']. Doing my research on them, both these guys could end up becoming defensive players down the road. Crews could stick on offense as a flex tight end with continued development and added growth with his body.

- - - - -

Offensive Line

- If it's not the tight ends that stand out about this weekend, it's the offensive line. We have a deep roster of O-linemen set for the Showcase with several guys inside our senior class that could boost their stocks with strong performances. The star power might reside with the underclassmen on Sunday but we have several seniors looking to make a name for themselves and kick start their recruitments.

Some of the top rising senior names to know about for this weekend are [player_tooltip player_id='902973' first='Lane' last='Ferguson'] (Alcoa), [player_tooltip player_id='905242' first='Caleb' last='Coffman'] (Page), [player_tooltip player_id='1662928' first='Blake' last='Leigh'] (Shelbyville), [player_tooltip player_id='1602208' first='Colt' last='Patterson'] (Hendersonville), [player_tooltip player_id='1306692' first='Alex' last='Sansom'] (Christian Brothers), [player_tooltip player_id='2081569' first='Kayden' last='Adams'] (BGA) and [player_tooltip player_id='1651712' first='Artie' last='Anderson'] from Briarcrest Christian. The guy out of this group who might have the best shot to play Power Four or D1 football one day looks like Ferguson, an athletic, versatile big man that could develop this off-season at tackle.

Coffman, Patterson and Anderson are interior versatile guys that might have a future playing center in college. Adams might fit that mold too but I personally like him best at guard. Leigh is the hidden gem from this group that has great overall size with deceptive athleticism that might allow him to stay at tackle. Sansom handles the outside for his Purple Wave team but might translate best in college at offensive guard.

The best overall prospect from the O-line that will be at Father Ryan on Sunday is BGA rising junior [player_tooltip player_id='423394' first='Koehn' last='Dial']. Holding several SEC offers in-hand already, this Mid-Tennessee product brings tremendous size to the field along with athletic body movements that allows him to excel at offensive tackle. It will be interesting to see how Dial has developed and how he looks headed into a big off-season.

Photo: Shayne Pickering Prep Redzone

Staying with the rising juniors, several guys peak my interest for camp this weekend. Those big men would include [player_tooltip player_id='835332' first='Jake' last='Rogers'] (Knox. Webb), [player_tooltip player_id='1734274' first='Andrew' last='Carlin'] (Signal Mountain), [player_tooltip player_id='2049733' first='Lucas' last='Bello'] (Stewarts Creek), [player_tooltip player_id='1088653' first='Hunter' last='Winstead'] (McKenzie) and [player_tooltip player_id='2035634' first='Wiley' last='Floyd'] from Shelbyville. Rogers, Carlin and Bello in particular have my attention. Those three flash on film and display the physical tools and traits to make themselves legitimate college prospects.

Not to be outclassed by the juniors, our rising sophomore group set for the Winter Showcase looks impressive. There is a lot of unknown with several linemen but we will certainly learn much more about them after Sunday's action, including which guys need to be on the college radar sooner than later.

The rising sophomores to know about for Sunday would be [player_tooltip player_id='1218739' first='Barrett' last='Hudson'] from Eagleville, [player_tooltip player_id='1537346' first='Brayden' last='Gonzalez'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1236042' first='Gabriel' last='Gonzalez'] out of Knox. Webb, [player_tooltip player_id='1539740' first='Trey' last='Sudderth'] from Knox. Catholic, [player_tooltip player_id='1654478' first='Brody' last='Chilton'] out of Smith Co. and interior O-lineman Ben Butler from White House-Heritage. Hudson is a talented young man that might have a future playing tackle. The Gonzalez boys are interior maulers that could flourish as run blockers. Sudderth, Chilton and Butler are three guys that pop for me with their physical gifts but there is plenty of growth left to go for them.

- - - - - - - -

Defense

Defensive Line/Edge

- The depth may be stronger with the offense for tomorrow's showcase but the defense still has some serious talent to scout, especially several players that present star power. The deepest defensive group we have for Sunday appears to be the defensive line. We have several trench monsters to pay attention to at camp that could help themselves and their recruiting stocks with strong showcase performances.

The upperclassmen are well represented with guys like [player_tooltip player_id='866728' first='Matthew' last='Newberry'] (NCS), [player_tooltip player_id='1566197' first='Parker' last='Cox'] (Upperman), [player_tooltip player_id='1726932' first='Bradley' last='Butler'] (WH-Heritage), [player_tooltip player_id='1584096' first='Colby' last='Cates'] (Lewis Co.), [player_tooltip player_id='1986108' first='Chance' last='Sharp'] (Hardin Valley), [player_tooltip player_id='1294325' first='Durgan' last='Ragland'] (Hardin Valley), [player_tooltip player_id='2088979' first='Miles' last='Hardin'] (Green Hill), Jermon Bishop, Jr (Alcoa) and [player_tooltip player_id='1896221' first='Landon' last='Hill'] from Spring Hill. Three of these guys in Cox, Ragland and Hill are two way linemen that could very well develop for the offensive side of the ball in college.

Newberry is a big, physical interior rusher that is not far away from transforming himself into a legit FCS, maybe D1 guy. He has the physical build/look along with flashes of athletic game play from the middle of the line. Cox is one of the more athletic linemen we will have at camp. I'm interested to see how he performs on defense this weekend as I have him scouted for offense, where I believe his upside fits best. Cates is a regular at our PRZTN Camps that plays consistent football along with deceptive athleticism and burst off the edge.

Butler and Sharp are two guys that have my attention for Sunday. I have watched plenty of film on these guys and I like what I've seen but watching them in person will help me gain a better feel for their game. Hardin and Bishop are two under the radar D-linemen that I don't know too much about but very interested to see how they perform against a solid crop of offensive linemen. Ragland is another two-way lineman that will be showcasing himself from the D-line but could have a bigger future on offense. How he gets off the snap and into the backfield will go a long way towards knowing which side of the ball Ragland belongs to.

There is a lot of unknown when it comes to the D-line underclassmen in this showcase. We have several guys destined for Nashville that will be looking to use this camp to boost their names and four guys that have my eye are [player_tooltip player_id='1292694' first='Calyx' last='Dougherty'] from Elizabethton, Jose Cruz, Jr out of Baylor, [player_tooltip player_id='1187446' first='Maddux' last='Moore'] from Dyer Co. and [player_tooltip player_id='1704627' first='Reese' last='Foster'] from Pearl Cohn. All four of these guys are developmental prospects going into the off-season that have plenty of room for growth. Moore is one guy that could have a big future with continued development with his athleticism, burst and speed.

- - - - -

Linebackers

- Moving over to the linebackers, some of the best talent coming out of this showcase, hails from this position where we might have a few D1, FCS guys ready to compete. It may also have some good depth that could be deeper with the emergence of some backers throughout this camp. I wouldn't be surprised if our showcase defensive MVP comes out of this position.

Two of the best linebackers headed to Nashville tomorrow come from Memphis with [player_tooltip player_id='1587004' first='Gerrard' last='Kaufman'] (Melrose) and [player_tooltip player_id='1738240' first='De'Anthony' last='Gales'] out of Mitchell High School. Ranked as a current Top 10 edge rusher for the TN2027 class, Kaufman is an athletic, quick-twitch guy that is dripping with potential but still has room for development and growth. Gales is a physically gifted young man that looks the part stepping off the bus. He is an interesting scout as Gales has the size to work at multiple positions from the middle to possibly growing into an edge guy. How he runs this weekend will tell a lot on what position he may eventually form into.

If there are two linebackers that could really help themselves on Sunday with strong camp performances it would be [player_tooltip player_id='1894518' first='Colby' last='Barone'] out of Independence and [player_tooltip player_id='906623' first='Will' last='Copeland'] from BGA. Projected as an inside linebacker in college, Barone plays with a high motor along with a physical prowess that excites you when watching his film. The Eagles backer can run and he does a good job of diagnosing the play early then attacking. Copeland is a natural athlete that is building himself into an edge guy that displays on film the burst and speed to cause problems for opposing offensive tackles.

A few other rising senior linebackers to know about for camp includes [player_tooltip player_id='932843' first='Eli' last='Overton'] from Dickson Co., Jackson Themm out of Shelbyville and Livingston Academy backer [player_tooltip player_id='2092984' first='Drew' last='Goolsby']. All three of these guys sit under the radar right now but could help themselves a ton with good testing at camp and strong performances during drill work.

We don't appear to have a lot of youthful depth at linebacker for Sunday but three guys that pop out to me are [player_tooltip player_id='2087716' first='Vinny' last='Henry'] out of Friendship Christian, [player_tooltip player_id='1672075' first='Cooper' last='Jones'] from MTCS and under the radar, Memphis area prospect [player_tooltip player_id='1292592' first='Kaydon' last='Lowe'] out of Munford. Henry and Jones are tackling machines that are coming off strong sophomore campaigns while Lowe is headed to Nashville to put his name on the map as an inside backer to follow throughout the off-season and into the 2026 season.

- - - - -

Defensive Backs

- Wrapping things up with the defensive backfield, it's not the deepest position group but it's still solid with a nice mix of veterans and youthful talent. I do see some defensive backs on this roster for Sunday that have big potential and with strong camp performances, they might boost their stocks enough to start garnering college interest.

Two seniors that immediately jump off the page for me are USJ safety [player_tooltip player_id='1687518' first='Bradley' last='Stamper'] and Blackman rising senior [player_tooltip player_id='1925934' first='Tristan' last='Thornton']. Both these guys are fun to scout on film and present athletic abilities or physical traits that translate to the big stage of college football. Stamper is long and tall with a wide radius and lower base agility that should allow him to play the field in college. Thornton is under the radar right now but someone I really like and think will jump on the recruiting scene very soon.

Along with those two above, Oak Ridge rising junior [player_tooltip player_id='1570535' first='Zayden' last='Williams'] is someone I'm very interested to see perform. This East Tennessee talent has all the physical tools and traits you want in a potential college cornerback. If Williams runs well in his testing while showing the smooth body movements in 1 on 1 work, the Wildcats defensive back might move himself into the top five for his position and someone worthy of Power Four looks.

There are a lot of unknown underclassmen showcasing themselves at camp, so tons of evaluating will happen on those we don't know. Some guys that already sit on my radar are [player_tooltip player_id='2086906' first='Brayden' last='Colbert'] from BGA, [player_tooltip player_id='1187596' first='Christian' last='Gentry'] out of Gallatin and rising sophomore safety [player_tooltip player_id='1707825' first='Gibby' last='Tomberlin'] from Maryville. Colbert and Gentry have potential to work outside at corner while Tomberlin is a true safety that could cover the field or boundary.

Photo: [player_tooltip player_id='1687518' first='Bradley' last='Stamper'] on X
