Now that the dust has settled on a tremendous 2025 season, I am excited to get back in the film room to check out the hundreds of new prospects that emerged on our radar and highlight the players who made huge jumps from year two to year three. We have been hard at work, as we did a near-overhaul of our Class of 2027 rankings, adding over 100 players, which saw our ranked prospects list grow to 250 and the complete list rise to 500+.

As I reviewed this impressive group of prospects, I realized that Nebraska's 2027 class is a sleeping giant that could easily rank among the best in the state's history. I can see 60+ prospects who could be holding D1 offers by the end of the season. The OL and DL groups are very strong, with a good mix of size, strength, and athleticism. This QB class is going to be fun to watch with two P4 signees at the top and a few others that could push that FBS-high FCS ceiling. Lots of good size at LB. The skill positions have a ton of explosive players who will turn heads during track/camp season.

Despite all the changes that came in this update, one thing remained the same, and it's that 5-star safety [player_tooltip player_id='422820' first='Tory' last='Pittman III'] checks out as the top prospect in the state. Tory emerged as one of the premier defensive prospects in the country as early as his freshman season and continued to show that throughout his junior season with Omaha Central. Tory's skill set has made him a multifaceted playmaker who can impact all aspects of the game, as shown by his 63 tackles, three interceptions (one pick-six), 16 receptions, 277 receiving yards, 92 rushing yards, and 7 touchdowns. Tory announced his commitment to the hometown Huskers over a lengthy list of offers.

The biggest shakeups in this update came the day before and just a few hours before the release of the new rankings when we learned about the transfers of 4-star QB [player_tooltip player_id='426566' first='Trae' last='Taylor'] (#2) from Carmel Catholic (IL) and 4-star WR [player_tooltip player_id='1014317' first='Antayvious' last='Ellis'] (#4) from Crowley (TX). Both players are currently committed to the Nebraska Cornhuskers and have announced that they will enroll and play football at Millard South. QB Taylor had a highly productive junior season in which he recorded 3,571 passing yards, 633 rushing yards, an 81% completion rate, 38 passing touchdowns, 12 rushing touchdowns, and a QBR of 156.8. WR Ellis comes over to the Patriots, fresh off posting 65 receptions, 808 receiving yards, and nine touchdowns during his junior campaign. Welcome to Nebraska, Trae and Antayvious— looking forward to watching more of this duo.

The rest of the top five includes some familiar faces like 3-star QB [player_tooltip player_id='487734' first='Braylen' last='Warren'] (#3), who has announced his commitment to the Missouri Tigers, and 3-star OL [player_tooltip player_id='1085067' first='Matt' last='Erickson'] (#5), who will stay in-state to play for the Huskers. QB Braylen had a strong junior campaign with 1,847 passing yards, 288 rushing yards, 27 passing touchdowns, three rushing touchdowns, and a 119 QBR for the Westside Warriors. OT Matt was the spearhead of a Millard North offensive line that helped pave the way for over 1,700 yards and 22 touchdowns on the ground.

OL [player_tooltip player_id='1192653' first='Barrett' last='Kitrell'] (#6), 3-star RB [player_tooltip player_id='212374' first='Kylonn' last='Haynie'] (#7), 3-star TE/EDGE [player_tooltip player_id='499433' first='Mason' last='Mehta'] (#8), OL [player_tooltip player_id='1547254' first='Bryce' last='Vigness'] (#9), DB [player_tooltip player_id='1556216' first='Colton' last='Williams'] (#10), RB TayTayJenkins (#11), ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1070886' first='Wyatt' last='Frey'] (#12 - Northwestern Commit), 3-star S [player_tooltip player_id='1086182' first='Wyatt' last='Liebentritt'] (#13), QB [player_tooltip player_id='1085095' first='Brockston' last='Teply'] (#14), and ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1192531' first='Andrej' last='Sabatka'] (#15) close out the rest of the top 15.

Quick note: If you do not see yourself on the rankings or watchlist, do not take this as a slight to you as a player. We try very hard to include as many prospects as possible, but we sometimes miss some when going through an entire state. Also, these lists are fluid and not set in stone, so there is always a chance to improve and move up in the rankings. Most of the time, a lack of film will likely be the reason a player is left off, making it important to have a tape of your previous season available on your Hudl (and that's for college coaches, not just for us to evaluate).
