is a player who I’m suprised to see flying somewhat under the radar despite two years of high level varsity film. Colton had a very productive junior campaign in which he recorded eight tackles, two TFLs, five interceptions, 25 receptions, 418 receiving yards, and three receiving touchdowns. Colton has legit upside on both sides of the ball, but I’ve been very impressed with his film at cornerback. Part of what helps Colton stand out is his athleticism and fluidity in coverage. He plays with loose hips, quick footwork, and a smooth change of direction that allow him to flow with receivers and remain in their hip pocket. Williams displays great instincts and a high football IQ that allow him to quickly diagnose offenses and effectively read the QBs eyes while also having the speed to sharply break on the ball. Once he gets to the ball, Colton is able to show off his ball skills by either being the more physical receiver at the catch point or trusting his timing to undercut a route. Threat to take interceptions back to the house (one pick-six) or tack on a big return. Williams also brings a ton of versatility to the secondary as he’s had experience at cornerback, safety, and could even work the slot. As a receiver, Colton has reliable hands and display excellent stop/start when running routes. Very good at going up and attacking the ball. Overall a great athlete who should be a riser once the season starts!

Colton showed his lockdown potential with 12 tackles and five interceptions (one pick-six) at CB last season. Colton recently picked up his first offer from Wayne State. He has also been in contact with schools such as North Dakota (visit), Northern Illinois (visit), South Dakota, Northern Iowa, Wyoming, and South Dakota State (visit).
