Earlier this week, we updated our 2027 prospect rankings to feature the top 150 juniors in the state of Oklahoma. Over the next several days, we'll be jumping into the 2027 class and breaking down a ton of the prospects that have stood out to us this season. In this breakdown, we continue looking at the 2027 class by taking a look at the quarterback position. These ten quarterbacks have all impressed us in various ways this season. We talk about why right here. Keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma for more 2027 prospect breakdowns!

We've said it a million times before but just in case you're new here. Broken Bow quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1525562' first='Greydon' last='Howell'] is hands down the most electric football player in the state of Oklahoma. It began last year and has only continued this season. Howell is the ultimate offensive weapon because it's almost impossible to contain him and keep him from making big play after big play. Howell is being recruited by programs all over the country and he's being recruited at multiple positions. By the time it's all said and done with his high school career, Howell is going to be able to sign with almost anybody and pick which position he wants to play at the next level.

Owasso quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1235926' first='Drew' last='Frankenfield'] continues to be one of the best quarterbacks in the state, regardless of class. Frankenfield has taken a massive step forward this season as a QB prospect in our opinion. He's grown physically and basically lived in the weight room this offseason. His transformation definitely makes him a name to remember as we get closer to the offseason. Frankenfield is taking care of the football this season and he's getting all of his offensive weapons involved. That's one of the things we like most about his game. The Rams are not lacking talent at the skill positions and Frankenfield utilizes all of those pieces to be successful.

Southmoore quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='445315' first='Taven' last='Hayes'] is another signal caller where the arrow continues to point up as he continues to get more reps and overall experience. We watched Hayes back in the spring and he really impressed us there. That's continued this season. Prior to this season, we've seen the numbers that Hayes has put up and have been impressed. But the thing that is really sticking out to us this fall has been his work in the run game. We saw glimpses of it back in the spring that Hayes can be very dangerous with his legs. He has the production in the passing game and now he's starting to add more elements to his game to make him dangerous.

Mangum quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='916843' first='Remington' last='Laughlin'] has been a 2027 prospect that we've written about quite a bit over the last few years. In each of his first two seasons, Laughlin suffered injuries that shut him down. This season, he's been healthy and that's a big reason why the Tigers are undefeated on the season and have a lot of momentum with the playoffs beginning next week. We got a chance to watch Laughlin in person last week and he had complete control of the Mangum offense. He was mostly used in the ground game and he's a physical and deceptively fast runner. But he can also air it out and has the numbers to back it up this season.

Pocola quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1473214' first='Ja' last='Posey'] was one of the breakout stars of the 2024 football season and he's only continued that momentum this season. Pocola looks like one of the very best teams in their class this fall so we could see Posey and the Indians go on a deep run in the playoffs. We've been on the record with this for a while now but Posey has one of the best deep balls in Oklahoma. We call them "moon balls" because he absolutely launches it and it always lands softly in the receiver's hands. While he might not have some of the monster games we saw from him last season from a stat standpoint, he's continuing to develop other parts of his game.

Talihina quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1524935' first='Landen' last='Griffith'] is another southeastern Oklahoma quarterback that enjoyed a breakout season last fall and is continuing to rise this year. Griffith put up some monster numbers to get everyone's attention last year and the production is still there at a ridiculous clip this fall. But one thing that we really like about his game is his growth from a physical standpoint. He helped guide Talihina to the state title game a year ago but he was not very big. Having just watched him in person last week, he looks like he's grown quite a bit and the questions about his size are going away. He also has his team as the favorite to capture the gold ball.

In our opinion, Cashion quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1524930' first='Kellen' last='Smith'] is one of the more underrated players in the state of Oklahoma this season. Smith got on our radar around this time last year as he would have some games where he put up some big numbers. He's back at it again this season from a production standpoint but we also have the benefit of watching him in person. He's incredibly tough to bring down in the open field and he made some passes in the game we covered that were very impressive. Smith is a quarterback that could help guide his team on a state title run in the next month. If that ends up being the case, we won't be surprised at all.

Mount St. Mary quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1035105' first='Roman' last='Manella'] has emerged as one of the top passers in the state this season. He's also rewritten the record book at Mount St. Mary in his first season as their QB1 this fall. Manella moved over from Midwest City this offseason and he has helped guide the Rockets to one of their best seasons in recent memory. Now, the job isn't finished as the Rockets look to make a run in the playoffs but the future is very bright for a team that doesn't have very many starters. We caught Manella back in the spring and then we saw him again this fall and it looks like he's made a huge jump. The ceiling for him is still high as an overall QB.

When you talk about the Jenks offense, it's easy to go to their superstar running back or outstanding offensive line. Don't overlook what quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1206910' first='Landon' last='Kizzar'] has been doing this season. Kizzar hasn't had a lot put on his shoulders considering who he shares the backfield with but throw on the film and look what he's been able to do when they have given him the green light and the pressure has been on. Kizzar has been able to throw the ball all over the field and get it to a variety of playmakers. Kizzar came out on top in a three-way battle for the QB1 job back in August and he's had a stranglehold on the position ever since then.

Elgin quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1680012' first='Cayden' last='Belletto'] stepped into a situation where he was replacing arguably the best quarterback in school history. Belletto has kept the Owls as the unquestioned #1 team in Class 4A and has them looking like a solid pick to go back to back. Now, Belletto is in a similar position to Kizzar considering they have one of the top running backs in the state. So he doesn't have some of the numbers that the other quarterbacks on this breakdown have but he's been incredibly efficient. He's completing well over 70 percent of his passes. When Elgin has leaned on him to push the ball down the field, he's been able to do that.
