CHSFL Championship: Iona Prep Film Study

The Gaels, got revenge and claimed their 2nd straight CHSFL AAA Title as they picked up a huge win against Monsignor Farrell. The stars were on the field for Coach Spagnolo, and his squad, as they showcased their elite roster at Fordham University. In a revenge game for him, he flourished for Iona Prep, and showcased his abilities on the football field.   Guzman looked poised in the pocket. In the first game he was on the run a lot, here he looked in control of the offense. I liked his accuracy, fitting the ball in tight windows. He was outstanding in the Option game, and made multiple big gains on the ground with his legs. The Senior is committed for baseball, but could very much play football at the next level.     Davis is one of the nations top RB's for a good reason. The Senior had an outstanding game on the ground, and picked up the Offensive MVP from the CHSFL during the game.   Crew is joining Bill Belichick next season in UNC, and the Tar Heels are getting a stud. Davis was impossible to tackle this past weekend, and his strength was on full display. He slowed down the play behind the line, and hit gaps hard. His speed is next level, and he has outstanding footwork, working on the sidelines, and making sharp cuts.     Pirrello, was the top target for Guzman during the game. The Senior WR, has been a solid target all season, and a crucial part in the passing offense for Iona Prep.   Pirrello, displayed good body control throughout the game, making multiple diving catches, and catches in traffic. I like his ability in tight windows, as he can make contested catches look easy. He has outstanding hands, and showcases good strength and speed after the catch.     Reeves is the next man up in the backfield for the Gaels, and he got some solid snaps during their win against Monsignor Farrell. I liked what I saw from Reeves, and without [player_tooltip player_id='1001144' first='Crew' last='Davis'] next year, the Gaels are still in good hands.   Reeves, has quick feet, he has the ability to make cuts look effortless, and with a burst of speed. He is a fast back, and I like him at the second level, where he can takeoff on opposing defenses. Reeves, is on the smaller side, but he displays good strength for his size, and can find gaps with ease.     In the first game against Monsignor Farrell, the offensive line had some struggles. This was a major fixing point for Coach Spagnolo, and during the Championship, I think the line player their best game of the season.   Malespin, is a player who I like at Center or Guard, and he held down the line in this matchup. In Pass Protection, the middle of the line was held down, and his hands and leverage were on full display. I liked his ability to counteract moves by the defense, as his footwork, and hand placement always found the blocking points of the D-Line.     Mulaj is a D1 Prospect given his size, and multiple schools have pulled the trigger on him already. Mulaj wowed me with his size earlier this season, but had a lot of work to do.   The Sophomore, fund his way into the starting role later in the season, and earned the LT spot against Monsignor Farrell. Mulaj struggled early on this season, but this past weekend, looked amazing. His footwork was exceptional, and his hand placement was excellent, as he created multiple gaps for the running game. Dilen is a freak athlete, he has continued to improve as a prospect.     Simmons has been a rising prospect this season for the Gaels. The Junior plays on mainly defense, but can take snaps as a TE on offense. Against Monsignor Farrell, he had a game sealing interception.   Simmons, has great speed on the EDGE, and I like his ability to reach the POA with the lineman. He has a high IQ, and displays the ability to be a disruptor with his hands. He has a developing tool back of moves, which has been displayed multiple times this season. He has good strength off the EDGE, and he is a guy I would fear if I saw on defense.     Pressley is one of the hardest hitters I have seen this year. The Senior ATH, can play across the field at multiple positions, but I like him mainly at LB, which was seen against Monsignor Farrell.   Pressley is an outstanding tackler, and I like his ability in the run game to nail opposing players. He has a high motor, and never seems to run out of energy. His high IQ, places him in almost every play on the defensive side of the ball. He has a good punch, and can rip the ball out and make big plays with ease. Pressley is easily a guy I want on my team.     Sangaray is a versatile Athlete for the Gaels, and against Monsignor Farrell, he was used at multiple different positions, and had a major impact in the Iona Prep win.   Sangaray is mainly a DB for me, but I like him at multiple positions. He was used in the backfield, where he displayed outstanding speed, and a good burst to break off a big run. In the Secondary, the Junior, displayed a good IQ, keeping the Farrell passing game to a low this season. Sangaray is a guy who impresses me at every Iona Prep game.
